Thompson Calls Judge 'Raving Wild Woman', 'Unhinged'
It's been a little more than a month since we broke the news that Judge Dava Tunis was recommending that Jack Thompson receive enhanced disbarment, and finally today he's gotten around to his normal round of name calling.
In a letter to the Judicial Qualifications Commission, Thompson questions Judge Tunis' mental stability and asks that she undergo a mental health exam. He also calls her a raving wild woman and suggests that she might be mentally impaired.
In a separate motion filed to strike Tunis' findings, Thompson calls into question the hearing and, once more, Judge Tunis saying she is "out of her judisprudential mind" and referring to her as Dava in Wonderland.

Re: Addendum to Formal JQC Complaint against "Judge" Dava Tunis
Dear JQC:
Please look at the enclosed Motion to Strike regarding Dava Tunis' "Findings" as to my guilt and innocence. First of all, she is prohibited from even issuing such a document without its containing specific findings of fact.
She leaked it to the media to do me harm prior to the issuance of her Final Referee's Report, and she didn't have "specific findings of fact" as required by Bar Rules, because she didn't have those "facts" in place.
Then, please note she finds me both guilty and not guilty of a violation of the same Bar Rule 4-8.2(a) as to the same judge and the same set of facts. She is just making this stuff up as she goes, and she is too sloppy to keep track of what she is making up.
But, hey, it's only my 31-year law career that is at stake here, and her Republican buddy Jeb Bush who put her on the bench has his buddies' Bar complaints in front of her, so you can't really expect her to rise above her entanglements and act like a real judge.
Finally, maybe there is another explanation here: Maybe Dava Tunis is mentally impaired. The raving wild woman I saw in the last minutes of our trial in December 2007 in which she stood up behind her bench and was shouting and waving her arms was someone who had become unhinged. Is she still unhinged?
The Bar keeps insisting that I must serially have my head examined, even though every such exam has resulted in a clean bill of health. Here's a suggestion, in light of her odd behaviour and her now executing a document that rebuts itself on its face: Have this Dava Tunis undergo a battery of psychiatric and psychological tests. I underwent them and came through with flying colours. Will she? Find out. Regards, Jack Thompson
IN THE SUPREME COURT OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA
THE FLORIDA BAR,
Complainant,
v. Case Numbers SC 07 - 80 and 07- 354
JOHN B. THOMPSON,
Respondent.
RESPONDENT'S MOTION TO STRIKE TUNIS' "FINDINGS"
COMES NOW respondent Thompson, moving the referee to strike her "Findings" of guilt and innocence in their entirety at to Thompson herein. Not only is such a document not allowed, without specific findings of fact, as required by Florida Bar Rules, as already pointed out, but now there is evidence on the face of the "Findings" document itself a) why the referee must submit findings of fact to support such "Findings," b) that Tunis is hopelessly befuddled, or c) couldn't care less if she makes a fool of herself in her headlong pursuit of Thompson as if she were a prosecutor. Note:
Tunis, in her May 15 "Findings," finds Thompson "GUILTY" in Count II of disparaging Alabama Judge Moore as to his integrity and qualifications, in violation of Bar Rule 4-8.2(a). Forget the fact that Thompson never did that but rather pointed out, as he is required by Alabama and Florida Bar Rules, to inform authorities that Clatus Junkin said he could fix the case. Merely look now at the fact that Tunis has found Thompson guilty of disparaging Judge Moore.
Then look at Count III's findings: Tunis finds Thompson "NOT GUILTY" of disparaging Judge Moore under the same Rule 4-8.2(a). Earth to Tunis: Read your own "Findings" before you sign them next time, if there is a next time.
This Referee, this oathless Tunis, is so out of her judisprudential mind that she can't even keep her fabrications straight. Lincoln said it well: "No man has a good enough memory to be a consistently good liar." Thompson disparaged Judge Moore and he didn't disparage Judge Moore. Welcome to Dava in Wonderland.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that I have provided this to The Florida Bar, 1200 Edgewater Drive, Orlando, Florida, July 8, 2008.
John B. Thompson, Attorney, Florida Bar #231665

Well, he's been known to tout his status as "the only certified sane lawyer in Florida".
Of course, but in any case, I have two words for Jack: CARL JUNG.

Why the hell has it taken so long to shut this guy down permanantly.
No one in any profession should last this long with his mentality.

Some women would like to be called raving and/or wild. Jack's just trying to let her know that he likes her, but he's coming off too strong. They just know each other from their work, so he should first take her out to dinner and the opera. Judges dig that stuff.

@Sentientv2: judisprudential is not a word, the proper spelling is ju-R-isprudential. Apparently Mr. Thomson isn't only daft when it comes to law, but spelling may not be his forte either. Whats more, I mean, and IANAL, but if I was, I would use spell check.

If nothing else, Jack Thompson is serving to show just how mixed up our legal system is right now. Lawyers were originally intended to make sure that your legal rights were upheld in court. Not "get you out of the charges and/or punishment regardless of guilt."
He isn't filing these demands for a evaluation because he honestly believe they're necessary. He's filing them because he has a legal right to, and until they're either refused or the evaluation is completed, a final ruling can't be given. It's all a delaying tactic in hopes that he can make them drop the whole matter because it's too much trouble.

Mr. Thompson needs medical help. Maybe if he stopped playing Phoenix Wright he wouldn't be making such outlandish accusations and objections. Somebody help this man help himself. He's obviously mentally unstable and could snap at any moment. I fear for the safety of the American people and my own, un-born children with such a madman on the loose. I think this man has been corrupted by watching too much Court TV, so much in fact that he actually thinks he is a real lawyer.
People, we need media outlets like Court TV shut down. Otherwise our children are at risk of turning into crazed psychopaths like Mr. Thompson has become.

@EmeraldDragon: Oh, I'd presume it's for his family and close friends to do. It might be obvious to us, but decency would dictate we shouldn't tell the man how to live his life. Actualy, no, John Bruce, you've only had two mental exams, both by the same biased evaluator.
Because of the conflict of interest due to you both having similar religious beliefs (may as well have a psychologist who believes high voltage shock treatments will cure homosexuality evaluate Fred Phelps), both exams should have been deemed null and void and a more appropriate, unbiased evaluator assigned.
Any evaluator who determines a person who thinks a minor playing a violent video game is far worse than that minor having been verbally, mentally, physically, and nearly sexually abused as being sane really needs a psychological evaluation of their own.

What Jack needs is an intervention. He's developed obsessive behaviors. I don't think he knows how to stop himself. I don't know if he believes in the cause as much anymore as he feels compelled by impulses. You start fighting things in all directions, eventually you start seeing enemies everywhere you look. It's been so long since he started fighting these battles that he can't stop-- even when it's against someone he has no reason to lash out at, like this judge. It's like he's become so controlled by the mission he took up that he can't let it go long enough to get himself back under control personally, and that's both dangerous and sad. I feel for Jack Thompson-- imagine trying to fight for something you believe in (no matter if we believe his cause is just or not) when your life is falling apart around you. I hope someone around him can force him to step back and put his house in order before he loses everything.

You seem to be forgetting a few facts in the matter, unfortunately. Firstly, I think most of us here love video games. That's something we share in common. However, Jack Thompson is not alone. Nor are the gamers. But he DOES deserve contempt. Have you followed anything Jack Thompson has done? They've given him a chance for years and all he does is make a mockery of the United States Legal System.
He lies and uses them as fact. He appears at anything that happens publicly as breaking news that isn't too large to be blamed on video games. I.E. There's a School Shooting or some random thief robs a game store - Jack is quick to appear on the news and point to video games as the culprit of mysteriously turning an already violent species into a violent species.
Most sane people who dislike Jack Thompson dislike him because of his stance against games. Anyone would be offended if their favorite past time or hobby was openly called out under such ridiculous claims. But more-so than that, most sane people dislike Jack Thompson because he is an affront to the moral compass of good people. He is a greedy little man that targets the best thing that is possible to strike money from. Grief in murder. And to get that victory, he will lie and deceive his way there, even through swearing oaths. Then have the audacity to claim a religious standing to his persuit of his own so-called justice.
He is not a man that should be given a "chance". He's had enough chances, and every time he's bent the evidence and facts to his own liking and has yet to be truly punished for it. This man is clinically insane and has the argumentive capabilities of a child. He has no right be a lawyer. If he wants to start a crusade against video games, then he has all the right to start a blog or something of other means. But lies, deceit and misguidance to those who are the parents and future parents of any country has no place in a legal system that SHOULD be trusted.
If you ask me, he is lucky to be getting away with merely disbarment.

The problem is he's an idiot.
It's simple to see from the document above that not only is he rude and unprofessional he's also stubborn and angry. He's been given a slew of chances, so many times has he been told to shut up and behave and this was his last one. To be honest I can't tell if his points are valid or not with a quick read, but can you actually file a complaint with comments like "you can't really expect her to rise above her entanglements and act like a real judge." and NOT have it thrown out of court? If you can't make your point in a civil manner I always got the impression that it didn't really fly in court.

Setting: Jack Thompson's kitchen. 7:00am. A bowl of Froot Loops slowly getting soggy in front of a half awake Jack Thompson. Jack's wife, Patricia, walks down stairs and notices the Froot Loops.
"Jack, can I have some Froot Loops too?" asks Patricia.
"No Pat, you are already eating the Froot Loops." Responds Jack.
"But Jack, how could I be eating the Froot Loops already? I just woke...."
"GOD DAMNIT WOMAN! Don't speak to me with a mouthful of Froot Loops!" snaps Jack.
"It's just that thoes Froot Loops look so delicious. Might I have just one bowl?" said Patricia.
"How can you have any when you ALREADY ATE IT ALL...PAT!" screams Jack
"But Jack, you just opened the box......"
This goes on for another two hours before Jack runs off to his play room for more Fatalities on Mortal Kombat and his favorite "Hooker sex" on GTA.

It is staggering to think that he has had a career spanning three decades when his writing is so juvenile and sardonic.
How does someone of such low ability pass the Bar in the first place?
doubtful
@gaijira: LOL

I actually read the transcript of the final hearing and if anyone was raving, it was Thompson. Judge Tunis seemed to be very professional and even bid Mr. Thompson to have a nice day when he walked out of the proceeding after insulting her. She may have made errors in her rulings. I really don't know as I'm not familiar with Florida Bar procedures, but it seems fairly obvious to me that it's slightly crazy for Jack Thompson to say someone else is unhinged.

Oy vey. It's either you're with Jack or you're agin' 'im!
He's definitely screwed. I wonder what would happen if the judge was of color...

@Koztah: Haha. Sadly true I guess =(

@CukyDoh:
He'll still be on Fox. Fox News doesn't care about any credentials other than the ones they caption the person's name during broadcast.
They would drag a drunken hobo in and display "Captain Crotcho: Rocket Scientist" under his face if it pushed their agenda forward.

when people disagree with me they MUST be mentally disabled

How did this guy get through law school? Or better yet, how did he get into law school?
His world view seems to defy logic, which begs the question: Why didn't the logic games featured in the LSAT screen him out entirely?
DugDawg
I honestly can't understand why someone hasn't just sued him for outright stupidity... I mean honestly if he can file a motion as laughably stupid as the above why the crap shouldn't I sue him for being stupid as a twat?
