We Won't Be Seeing Brütal Legend At E3 :(

Sunday night's pre-E3 Kotaku party is going to be a booze-fuelled, feel-good adventure. None of that, however, will dull the pain of Brütal Legend's absence at E3, an absence confirmed by MTV Multiplayer today. Double Fine Productions frontman Tim Schafer confirmed the bad news earlier today and I'm just barely keeping it together.
Sure, we knew that Vivendi and Activision and their subsidiaries weren't doing the E3 thing proper, but Activision is at least holding a press conference. Chalk it up to denial. The good news, according to MTV, is that Mr. Schafer says we may hear more about it "soon after" E3. I'm ignoring Tim's "we hope" caveat.
We're also going to refer to the newly merged Activision Blizzard as Activision Blizzard Brütal Legend to show just how important we think the game is.

No!!!! This is the only Vivendi/Activision game I gave a squat about. It was easily among my most anticipated of this year. Looks like I can scratch this off my '08 must buy list. :( See ya in '09... hopefully.

Isn't Tim Schaefer trying to get Brutal Legend to jump ship to a different, non-Activision publisher? Maybe that's why it's not here, the blood between Double Fine and Activision can't be too good right now.

Hmm...D-toid raises a good point on this subject...what if the publisher troubles between Double Fine and Activision have delayed Brutal Legend's unveiling...only for Schafer to show it off at PAX instead? PAX seems like the kind of show that Brutal Legend would thrive at...

Damn, would really have liked to see some new media for the game. I wasn't even aware of troubles between DF and Activision, shows how up to date I am!

Damn. I can't wait to see more of this game. It has been in my top 5 of most expected games for a while now, what's with Tim Shafer creating a character that has Jack Black's voice.
