@Recoil: We've got bars and too many places to eat as well as theaters, night clubs, and the huge convention center that needs to be used for stuff like this. For the gamers with a non-gamer spouse and kiddies, they can go hit up the Smithsonian museums which has free admission and go bowling in Gallery Place. (That's the area with the Verizon Center [basketball/hockey/concert venue])

I'd pee myself if PAX came here. However, I doubt that anything that I'd like would come to town. :(

I am cautiously optimistic about this news.

On the plus side, I won't have to travel as far and spend as much money to go. On the minus side, every convention that's expanded is a watered down version of the original, and the original just becomes bloated and horrible. Just look at the NY and San Diego Comic-Cons. And the four Wizard World Conventions. Text-book cases.

i would love to go to a pax, whichever side its on. i just hope that the "new" pax doens't lose some of the magic.

a good example of this is the original gencon that was held in WI each year (and in the last few years moved to IN) as opposed to gencon "socal" which from what i've heard is now dead. it didnt seem like anybody cared about socal, with a lot of the games national or world championships being held at the original gencon.

(for anyone that doesnt know, gencon is basically the big event of the year for ccgs, boardgames, tabletop rpgs, and things of that nature)

Now this is fantastic news. With E3 having gone to crap...us gamers need a good quality gaming convention. The Comic based Cons are good and all but they aren't centered around gaming like PAX is. More PAX is a great thing.

they should go to Connecticut, up here in Connecticut we are hardcore gamers, for example, during the PS3 launch some dude got shot here in Connecticut because they wanted the PS3, another example, some dude cut another dude in line at Target during the 360 launch, so the guy pulled some metal rod pole out of the ground and beat the shit out of the guy who cut in line lol, i was there so i had no choice but to experience it. hardcore gamers.
