When I finished Crisis Core - Final Fantasy VII, I really wanted to play the original Final Fantasy VII again.

With all the hinting they've done, (the end of Crisis Core, the tech demo intro movie) it's hard to believe that a remake is not now in the works, in some form. But releasing it with no hype at all? It would be awesome to the readers of this site and other people who keep up on games in general, but the reality is that those people are a shrinking part of the market now. We have morning meetings and someone approached me and said "I didn't know Final Fantasy VII was coming out for Ps3 so soon".. I was confused and had to ask what he was talking about.. So he pointed to the sign, and I looked at it and started laughing. I had to take a picture with of it and I thought I should send it in. I'm sure every Best Buy has the ad, ours (in daytona) was near customer service if anyone wants to go look at it.

While I'd be damn proud of Squeenix if they had been able to keep a secret like this for this long, I seriously doubt this is the case. If the game were being advertised in stores and NOT just some mass mistake on marketing's part, it would be on their site for preorder, which it's not.

Trust me, while I think Squeenix is killing themselves creatively with their Compilation of FF7, I'd love to see this released anyway, so long as the translation has a bit more... finesse than before. I really wasn't fond of the original English translation, although the story beneath that translation was interesting.

Yeah, if anything at all, this is a reprint of the FFVII greatest hits cd. Since Best Buy no longer sells PS1 games, they're billeting it at PS3 since all PS3 SKUs play PS1 games. Otherwise something would have slipped earlier like ebgames taking pre-orders up the yang for it.

If they actually did do this, then they should keep the game the way it was, but just update all the graphics and retranslate it. Maybe add in some stuff to make the story make more sense, or extra dungeons and items. But, I doubt it will happen. And if it does, they'll probably screw it up.

Well the sign is definitely real. My boyfriend works at Best Buy and he actually approached me for info (he doesn't play any FF games, but he knows I'm a fan). We even investigated it. You can find out what we found on my blog ([gmunster.wordpress.com])

I really hope this is reeeeeal. I would love to play this with amazing graphics....the only thing that gets me to think its not is that no other store knows anything about it....but then Best Buy has some info...

This I believe is a mistake (intentional mistake...I'm not sure)

SE has shown no prior of releasing a game in this manner, in fact they tend to do the opposite.
If this were true then other retails (Target, Walmart, Game Stop, etc) would have the same info, and so far no one from any of the retail stores have leaked the info (my assumption is that there has to be at least one employee of one of the retail stores that be willing to leak such info).
SE releasing FF7 just only 4 days after an Hannah Montana game is just utter suicide (how did they ever think they could match Hannah Montana sales).

Now I wonder...
If this little news hit Japanese gaming news, and what kind of response it garnered
If this is an unintentional mistake...how would someone stumble onto a mistake like this (assuming he/she has mistaken Disgea 3 for FF7...then he/she wouldn't have known about FF7 [or rpgs for that matter]).
