You Betcha We're Getting A Hardy Boys Wii Game
Posted by Brian Ashcraft at 8:00 PM on August 5, 2008
The announcement that you knew somewhere in the back of your brain for that the game that you've all been waiting for is here: Yes, that's right, the Wii is getting a Hardy Boys game. Titled Hardy Boys: The Hidden Theft, the game is already slated for the PC and follows Frank and Joe as they investigate a vault burglary — only to find themselves at the centre of a major investigation! Jesse McCartney and Cody Linley (who?) from Hannah Montana (oh) will do the voicing duties. Don't think of this as a point and click adventure but a waggle and click one.

"Gosh Frank! Looks like there's something fishy going on down at Smuggler's Cove - let's take Chet's jalopy down there and investigate."
"Good idea Joe. I bet those fellows could tell us something about about the missing scientist too!"
There, plot written. I expect my royalty cheque by return of post.

Uh, this doesn't sound like it will be much better than the Nancy Drew games, rangers with ulterior motives aside. Not enough action, lots of safety and cautiousness, boring!
@StormdragonBlue: Are you kidding? *shakes fist at young punk*
@Garo: That's where they fall into peril as a fireman is trapped fighting a fire along the tree line. Only the Hardy Boys are close enough to help!

The -Hidden- Theft, eh?
Don't think there'd be much investigating for the boys to do if it wasn't, would there?

ONLY the Hardy Boys? This is the worst wrestling game ever.

Hardy Boys. Wasn't this license last popular around the 1950s? Even with the Wii's unusually large audience, I can't imagine the demographic of people who will know who the Hardy Boys are, Care, and own a Wii is likely to be very large.

Har, Har, never gets old. Love it!
But seriously, I LOVED the hardy boys when I was young. Not sure how the Nancy Drew games are, but this gives young boys a potential alternative to some mystery solving goodness.

I would buy this if it were an ero game and you had to detective Nancy Drew out of her clothes so you could orgy with her.

I refuse to believe they actually write new versions of these books.
They must be taking the old stories and putting new covers on them.

Here's how we take and make this awesome:
Frank and Joe die in a car explosion (just like his girlfriend did) as they leave their father, Fenton Hardy's house. The hard-core ex-fed P.I. goes on an epic descent into the bowels of the criminal underworld his sons had gutted open during one of the many mysteries they never told him about.
He won't stop shooting off fingers till he gets the name of the man behind these brutal slayings. His moral compass will be shattered with shattering of his sons' bodies and as the player you must guide him through his darkest hour.

@phatnacky: because you somehow divined that the Hardy Boys were coming to the console when you made your choice? Wow attuned to all things Hardy, you are.
Also those waggle cracks NEVER get old Kotaku! The wit! It slays!

@phatnacky: You do realize that is probably the stupidest thing ever to be posted onto the internet EVAR! right?
I don't like RPGs, but I still bought a PS2. There was also a constant and steady stream of crapware on the PS2, but I still bought one.
Wanna know why? Because there were other games on the system that were good.
If I judged any system by its stupidest, worst, and most cash-in prone games, I could make a bad case against a system too. And then I could be a massive tool.

@2NinjasTapedTogether:
have you looked at the WII line up...sweet baby jesus on a pogo stick... cant i have my own damned oppion. the resion i didnt buy a wii is becasue i dont like waggle stick...and nintendo in the past 8 years hanst come out with anything that that i wanted to play bad enough to warren t me buying a Nintendo based system.
like i siad befor , the wii just dosnt do it for me becasue , the majority of hit mainstream multi platform games out there cant be played on the wii ,and if they can they are watered down to the point of not being worth the money.
i'll buy a Wii when there 40bucks like the gamecube
