Blitz II: Like Madden, But Doggy Style
Posted by Kotaku US Edition at 3:30 PM on August 7, 2008
Lawrence Taylor has quickly shot up my list of great people to interview. There was this Blitz: The League 2 launch party somewhere around Times Square tonight. Press people and whoever else got to play the game as well as take advantage of the open bar. The highlight of the night, however, was when I interviewed Lawrence Taylor -the football guy on the cover - in a round-table discussion. I didn't get a chance to ask a lot of questions, so when I did, I simply asked "Why should anyone buy Blitz 2 over Madden 09?" His response was, well, very...positional.
Why should anyone buy Blitz: The League 2 over Madden 09?
Lawrence Taylor:
"That's a good question. Well, it all depends. If you're use to the missionary position, that's what you're going to do. But if you want to sit there and experiment? From the behind, then maybe a little doggystyle and all that stuff, then you're going to buy Blitz 2. Now you (pointing at me), you might like missionary. That's something you can control. It's going to be the same thing every time. But if you want to experience and enjoy it. And get downright dirty with it, then you're going to get Blitz 2".
Uh..ok. I was kinda expecting your typical "The graphics are hot" speech, but it seems like he knows what he's talking about...I think. I was afraid to ask him what position I'd like if I bought neither game. Oh well.
Oh, in case you were wondering why kind of watch a man such as Lawrence Taylor wears, I snapped a picture of it.

That wouldn't fit around both my wrists combined. I spent the rest of the night standing around drinking free Budlight.

I mothereffing love LT man. Greatest defensive player ever. I watched the man make a sack with 1 finger. Guy's just a total badass. Hes probably the only reason i bought the first blitz the league, even though it was total garbage. I dont see the second one being any better. But man if i had gotten to interview LT id have rattled off so many questions hed probably murder me.

They need to spend all this money on game development instead of large parties with coked up old football players.

Midway should do themselves and never release this. Just scrap it. Instead just remake blitz 20-01 (the best one) and put it on PSN and XBL.

That's seriously the best analogy anyone could have come up with to explain why some people would want Blitz over Madden.
I haven't played a Blitz game since the N64 days, but I remember them being fun. I've always thought the Madden games were boring.

Sexual Video Game Analogies.. Priceless?
To this day the only actual game I have ever broken (snapped the disk in half) was the original Blitz for the playstation. Rubberband AI sends my nerd rage into orbit. I haven't played a football game since and sadly i don't think he resold me.
I've always liked Lawrence tho.. hes a funny guy.

NHL Blitz was one of the most played vs games on PSX around my friends group. The amazing bit? Were european, by all rights, we should completly ignore American Football games. It has yet to beat Mutant League Football... oh, and why wasnt the first game for the Wii released in Europe? As such, I did not buy it and opted for Madden 08 instead...
Lack of choices, not lack of wanting to experiment doggie style, mister!

I fucking hate Madden ( the games). My whole high school life was Foot ball. Play, practicing and training. Blitz the League has been really the only sports game I was able to tolerate. I love when you tackle some and brake their spine. The bone break image that comes up is priceless. Also, Big LT fan here. Joe Theisman had it comin'. And, coincidentally, doggy style is my favorite position

Lawrence Taylor used to send hookers to the hotel rooms of his adversaries the night before a game. That way, he'd be well rested, they wouldn't be.
He should've done that with the EA devs.

LT is the fuckin' man. How that guy's still walking after a professional career played with zero disregard for his own body is a modern medical miracle perhaps only equaled by Keith Richards living long enough to become a grandfather.
I'd like to give this game a try, but I've sort of reached a point with games where they either get bought or not, and I haven't rented in years. The old Blitz games for the 64/PSX were awesome though.

Perfectly spoken!
I liked the first one mostly because of Taylor and the crazy stunts you can do and the kind of control you had over everything else that goes on in a football game. The screens for the new one look pretty nice and I like how they focus on the beat down aspect of the game.
