I hope they give him more tricky moves then over powered moves. Maybe more variations of teleporting and maybe fake out moves. Maybe make powerful moves even more difficult to pull off. Otherwise Akuma is pretty broken.

It's definitely one of the most stylish moves in the game, but effective it isn't, unfortunately.

Good to see Akuma meet the lineup, though aside from popularity reasons, I'd love to see more viable (and by viable, I mean straightforward enough to be popular without being gimmicky) characters aside from the 'Usual 4 Suspects' of Ryu/Ken/Chun-Li/Akuma.

Here's hoping he stays a boss character, the very purpose of him is really to be a 'super boss' designed to be imbalanced because he's only played by the CPU.

When you announce that he's available "from today", that leaves me confused. Was he in the game's code already and Capcom just set a date he would start popping up, or does the arcade machine have to be connected to the internet to receive the Akuma upgrade (like Konami's Bemani games). I'm hoping it's the former because the latter means US arcades (or anywhere but Japan) wouldn't be able to get Akuma, much the same way US arcades are missing Bemani's eeMall/eAmusement stuff :(

But that kind of stops being cool once he's selectable and kicking everyones ass.

A skilled offensive Akuma player is an awful matchup. For a pretty mediocre Ryu player like me anyways.

Also, I don't know why there's a debate, SGS ends with HP not HK and is unfortunately easy to dodge (even easier when you play against people who swap hands to perform the combo, which strange as it may seem I'm not making up).

Would be great if he showed up to stomp you after you win a match without losing health (or some other crazy display of skill) and then after you lose (c'mon, he's akuma) instead of forcing you to pump quarters in for the privilege of another fireball to the face, he leaves and you continue on your way up the ladder.

with street fighter 3, Akuma was actually wasnt quite "balanced". Sure he was fast and could potentially kick your arse HARD, but seriously he took damage like a bitch... 2x the normal ammount if i can recall correctly. My Hugo totally raped him almost every time :)

@zgnoud: Yeah Akuma in SF 3 was a pantywaist compared to previous  itinerations. Even Ryu's fierce dp would take something like 25% of his bar. Sounds like they're doing their best to restore him to his former glory. I, for one, welcome the challenge.

As many has said he was quite balanced in SF3 and that's my favorite SF game. He's a offensive juggernaut but takes hits like a little girl. Though good players can work around this. Believe it or not i'm not a big fan of shun goku satsu and i rather prefer his Kongō Kokuretsu Zan.
