@CarbonFalcon: Its possible for Nintendo to stop printing money. After all the Wii is a moe character. Moe characters are always replaced at some point.

Here's the breakdown.

Wii = Loli Moe
360 = Yandere
PS3 = Tsundere

Right now, of the three, the Wii is the most popular character in all the rankings. She's getting tons of votes, sales, pictures, etc. etc. However, these types are easily replaced when the next big Moe character comes along. That isn't to say it's a fad, just a part of this cycle.

The 360 was the most popular in the beginning, and introduced first out of all the characters in this harem generation. However, due to early childhood trauma she's prone to break and slowly turning psychotic. She's even taken to completely remaking herself in order to keep our attention.

The PS3 was the last character introduced, and to much hatred. She's hard to get along with, save with the few that loved her since the beginning. She always teased us and berated us. First with $599 pricetag, then with the lack of games, and even further with the removal of backwards computability so that we play with her instead of her older sister. She tries to tell us that she likes us, but it always comes out as, "you idiot! Why are you so fickle? Idiot...get it together. It isn't like I like you gamers..."

Retailers do weird stuff all the time. We should all know this.
I bet that cover is used as a bait. Anybody on the fence on whether to buy a 360 for Tales or not would buy the console instantly by the lure of Final Fantasy.

Seeing as the game is releasing mid-09 at the earliest, this is just cheap promotion. I dont know SE's intentions regarding a Japan version but going from their statement already made, I'd feel really sad for Japanese people buying a 360 and then expecting to play FFXIII on it. Its downright cheating by the retailer.

@SolidSnake1118: If you bought any of the new consoles for JRPGs you'll be dissapointed regardless of which one you buy. JRPGs are a thing of last generation...there are few of them this generation and in my opinion the ones that are out on the 360 range from average to bad.

Maybe Infinite Undiscovery will be good, but I doubt it will match FFXIII.

This is a BRILLIANT idea. If retailers use the hope of it coming to the Japanese 360 to sell systems, then the increased sales and install base in Japan will catch S-E's eye as well which COULD lead to it actually being released in Japan.

This is a forward thinking retailer that is trying to shape the future. I like that.

I actually think it would hit the JP 360, though 6 to 12 months later than the JP PS3 version depending on whenever the 360 port gets finished. I mean, Squeenix would be stupid not to bring a 360 port to JP (just like how Namco Bandai would have been stupid not to bring Eternal Sonata PS3 port to the U.S.; most of the localization was already done!). Sure, it may not sell as much as the PS3 version (probably nowhere near as much with the huge delay) but it will make them some extra dough, something they'll need.

Yeah, you'd think. But it wouldn't be exclusive (see Dynasty Warriors PS3 vs. 360 sales in Japan), it would be HIGHLY unlikely they could have it ready simultaneously (which wouldn't be great for sales) AND it does take resources to put a localized version together for Japan. So its not an easy decision exactly.
