that's pretty awesome, in all honestly it was probably just somone grabbed the wrong controller since there's a 360 sitting next to the ps3 and there's a sixaxis/dualshock 3 sitting next to the ps3. This kid though? Amazing. Is able to play a PS3 game with a 360 controller while NOT looking at the TV. Can sleep on a rocking chair with no pillow or blanket, since the door of this room is just out of shot and there is no place for a bed. Or clothes. He's also got some nifty physics, getting a paper airplane to fly like that, WHILE he's playing a video game and not looking at the screen- and somehow the paper plane is able to make a trail in the air. Add in the fact his arm looks like it was photoshopped in at the shoulder, and you have one amazing college dorm room that I'd like to visit if not live in.

Sorry, MGS4 cutscene jokes don't really work here; I just watched this one and it's about 2 minutes long; Snake wakes up from a (playable) flashback, jumps out of a helicopter all action-hero style, but ends up cracking his back and looking like a geezer. That's the whole thing. And yeah, I rather doubt there's any MGS4 media on the 360; if memory serves all of the extra making-of videos and whatnot are on Blu-ray.

It's not the prop guy, it's the graphic artist. The scene looks innocent enough without the footage for MGS4 on the TV. Chances are they shot the scene with the TV screen off, then added the footage with photoshop later. And, to reference the sales of MGS4 on another page, they just mindlessly put it on the TV. It's a common enough practice and this is a brilliant example of where it goes wrong.

At least, that's how I see it.

Retailers do this as a way to avoid the appearance of loyalty or favoritism for one brand. Since neither Sony or Microsoft paid for appearance in this ad, and Sears doesn't want to piss either off for the future, they give them "equal time" in the ad as it were.

I think I could make my dorm room look like that if I took all the furniture out and just replaced everything with a entertainment system. Even so I'd probably have to sit in the closet and I have one of the nicest rooms at my school, and my school has some hella nice dorms.

First off there is a 360 sitting just to the right of the PS3. The image is pretty crappy but you can make out the line of the 360's vents and hard drive directly to the right.

Second. Most of the times when they take these pictures the screen isn't even on, and if it is, they just have a green screen or some other solid color on it so they can photoshop in the lastest image. Haven't you noticed every TV in the Best Buy add always has the same image on the screen. Taking a picture of an image on a TV would look like shit compared to one photoshoped in.

A few years ago I actually worked for the company that makes these ads in Chicago. Its the most amazingly convoluted process to make what looks like should be slapped together in an afternoon. RaepGoblin is right, the image in the flat screen TV is "cloned" in by the digital department after the shoot with images provided by the client who wants to appear on the page. Then it runs through the Quality Assurance guys who are eleventy hundred years old and probably arent looking for such discrepancies anyway. My job would've been to get that smart jeans plaid shirt combo together for the stylists, while a whole other team would bring the electronics, and yet another team to bring in the housewares to the location in the building where the shoot was to happen. Then I would steal a bagel from the model's food table and mope back to my desk knowing I helped make this for what all intents and purposes is a piece of garbage to go straight into a landfill.
