Super Mario RPG, and if I can be arsed to get my N64 working I could really go for some Donkey Kong 64. Man, or some Diddy Kong Racing. No games excite me more than N64 era Rare.

So, was SMRPG always this short? I downloaded it yesterday and I've already got five out of seven stars. RPGs, almost as a rule, tend to make you wander around looking for your next quest whereas in SMRPG seems to put you exactly where you need to be every time. It's odd.

But I've seen the Link and Samus cameos, so I'm happy.

I got this weird CD at the flea market today. It says it has $500 worth of software in it - in reality it's just a bunch of full versions of old shareware software, packaged together as a legitimate bundle. The CD is from 1993, I just love getting old CDs like this.

I'm playing orange box... And people were certainly right... It's HORRIBLE on the PS3... Framerate drops and loading times... People can blame the bluray for loading times all they want, but when loading a quicksave from the SAME AREA you've been in takes 15 seconds... IT SHOULDN"T EVEN HAVE TO LOAD ANY NEW INFO!! And it's loading the quicksave FROM THE HARDDRIVE! That's just bad planning.

Pretty much Old-Skool weekend for me. My 360 won't be back til' Monday or Tuesday, but I found a copy of Super Mario All-Stars at the thrift store yesterday for 1.91 and popped it in. Played it for an hour or two last night, as well as the old NES game Pinball Quest, an under appreciated classic with three very well done tables, as well as an RPG where your character is a pin ball and you move your flippers upward as you progress. Sorta like a simpler version of Odama, except for the voice and the strat. This really needs some re-release, if it hasn't got one on the VC.

If you own a 360 and you haven't tried this new Galaga Legions game that dropped on Wednesday, you should feel a deep, cancerous shame right above your gut.

The game is fucking shooter heaven. It's like a bullet hell game, only you can KILL the bullets. The question is... can you kill them FAST enough? It's like trying to hold back a flood with a flamethrower, and it's a lot of fun.

Sorry to hear about your disk, Owen. Please don't beat yourself up too much. The technology to have disk players gracefully handle bumps and movement has been widely available for two decades or so. We're almost three years into the 360's shelf life and MS still can't be bothered to put decent drives in the thing. And people call the Wii last gen.

It would probably take me a week or two to beat it if I'm good enough (without getting/unlocking/accomplishing everything). Does this game have skill points like the previous games? I didn't really think about it before, but the skill points system was like the precursor to Achievements on the 360! So, without Skill Points, we wouldn't have our precious Achievements, & without Achievements, we wouldn't have Trophies on the PS3! Everything's come full circle!!

It sucks hearing about the disc getting mulched. I know, I almost did it to my friend's 360 while he played gears. the 360 started making sounds like it was a saw cutting concrete. Needless to say, my friend wasn't happy about it, but I was quite amused...heh.. turned on my ps2 in the same room, tilted it diagnoally and said to him: "hmmph!" End of story.

Since this is on the second page, you probably won't see this, but here is how you rectify this situation.

Go buy a new copy of Madden 09 at Best Buy, open it up, take the new disc and replace it with a scratched disc. Bring it back and get a replacement sealed copy. Take the sealed copy back to Walmart and get a $60.00 gift card. You've officially lost no money.

And yes, I know I'm a dick for suggesting that he rip off not just one, but two major corporations. But seriously, would you really want to spend $60.00 on a replacement for a game you already own?

Madden 09 and - drum roll please - LAIR!

Yep, I never finished LAIR, and am interested to see if the controls are really as bad as advertised. I do remember that it was more fun than indicated by some reviewers.

Madden 09 is my first serious attempt at learning how to play a Madden game. Boy, is it complicated! I still don't like the defensive POV (playing defense from the offense's backfield), but learning playbooks, reading defenses, trying to remember the myriad of options like audibles, etc. makes this one of the toughest games I have ever played. It runs as smooth as silk on the PS3, the graphics are quite nice (even on a small CRT HDTV), the animations are much improved. If you haven't played Madden in a while, give this one a try. It is really well done. and let's give EA a little credit this time for really trying to improve the game.

Just started disc four of Lost Odyssey. As a big fan of the Shadow Hearts games, this game has been so much fun.I am looking foward to wrapping this one up just in time for the surge of RPGs for the 360 this fall.

Nothing, but hopefully Fire Pro Returns will show from UPS tommorow. That is, if UPS delivers on Sundays. The only way to get a PAL version is from Italy, and that means having to guess my way through an Italian video game retailer's site. I still have no idea what a "CAP" is.
