Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings Rated for Portables
Posted by Brian Ashcraft at 10:40 PM on August 28, 2008
European video game content rater PEGI has just, well, rated what looks like a new Indiana Jones game for the DS and PSP. With the questionable title Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings (woah!), the title is 16 and up, and Activision is publishing. We don't have any other information about it other than that, but game site Siliconera wonders if this Staff of Kings game is that other "next-gen" Indiana Jones title that was shown a few years back — and then disappeared into the ether.

@Kazzahdrane:
Thank you kind sir for clearing that up. I knew there had to be aliens involved! :)

Nonono, you misunderstand. It doesn't mean Staff as in a pole, it means the people who work for the royal family. Like this:
Set in an alternate universe, young Henry Jones Jr. must awake every morning at 5am to warm His Majesty's bath water.
Don't worry though, it's all explained by ALIENS.

... That's just a random screen he put there, it's not a screen of the portable game since he specifically states all we know is its name and rating, nothing more, including media ... So yeah, it should look similar to "that other next gen game" hah...

I dont think that screen shot is intended to be from the PSP one, its just a picture to accompany the story (and is from the next gen demo, as I remember it anyway)
I want indy next gen :)

On a side note...
I don't see why they didn't name it something more obvious like: Indiana Jones and the greasy pole of the monarchy!

Really hope this isn't a replacement for the home console Indy game Lucasarts were supposedly working on...
Either way though, hopefully it's good! Given the franchise, I expect most reviewers to complain that The Staff is too long...

The screens look just like the ones I have seen before from the "Next Gen" game. Looks like they may have shit canned that and went HH for the game.

I doubt it is the same game, given that the DS certainly couldn't and the PSP probably couldn't handle Euphoria. I'm beginning to think that the so-called game was just a fancy tech demo.

I still don't understand why people are giving such a huge shit for a Lego game.
Lego wasn't even supposed to be a videogame, damn it. They're little colored bricks!

@ZombiePuppy: Lego Star wars game were pretty great games. Also, the "next gen Indiana" game discussed here wasn't Lego. Out of the loop much? Posting just out of angst? Seek professional help.

@Toker-Tom:
You know, I actually liked the movie more the 2nd (free) time when I watched it again recently. No, its not great, but after being able to be a bit more objective after the hype had subsided. The problems it has are similar to problems with the others. I'm just older and more jaded now.
Now Indy games have been another story. Very little to get excited about. I sure hope to hear something positive about the CONSOLE version, if it still exists ...

This is a shame. I have been really looking forward to the "Next-Gen" version of this game.
I doubt we'll ever see it again.

Don't think I've ever played an IJ game, but if they re-released Atlantis or upgraded it a la Bionic Commando: Rearmed, then I might be interested.
As it stands, the only reason I'd be interested in a Next-Gen IJ is to get the horribly disgusting taste of Crystal Skull out of my mouth. Course, the easier (and far cheaper) thing to do would be to just watch the original trilogy.

We all know LucasArts is just a shell now. When Force Unleashed is out they will most likely become a licensing company.

Apparently, Indy has the Horadric Cube and possibly the Viper Amulet - once he gets this Staff of Kings he can open to the portal to defeat Duriel!!
