A Gallery of Madden Glitch Goodness

Ah, football and August -- fresh cut grass, training camp, two-a-days, puking, pre-season football, the release of Madden and, about 3 seconds after that, the reports of the first Madden glitches. Unlike last year's bugfest, it's been reasonably quiet so far. But paging through YouTube on Friday I found a plethora of classic, often hilarious Madden glitches, plus one of him perhaps subconsciously drawing a wiener on the telestrator in real life.
We lead off with the Madden Ambulance Montage (love that title card) above. You can watch the health care professionals (oath: "First, do harm".) in John Madden Football '92 cut a path of destruction through the uninjured players on their way to pick up the crumpled halfback -- with slo-mo replay, too. Many more clips after the jump.
A montage of late hits from Madden '96. *Crackle* ... "Oh no, there's a man down." Pat Summerall sounds terribly upset by the wanton 16-bit violence he's just witnessed.
Playing in the Super Bowl vs. the Colts, the Bears' Rex Grossman gets hit so hard he shits a football.
In the pocket, Drew Bledsoe was such a statue he had pigeon shit on his shoulder pads. Yet here he uncorks a Frank Tarkenton-on-meth rollout and hits Terrell Owens for an unorthodox score. Bonus points for the Harry Kalas impersonation.
Vince Young Matt Leinart (coulda sworn I was looking at the Titans) back to pass ... Saints free safety Josh Bullocks has a bead on it and FUCK YOU FATHER KARRAS ... YOU'RE GOING TO DIE ... ALL OF YOU /vomits ... also, Merton Hanks, you can't touch this.
The Ravens' Kyle Boller has one hell of an arm, I'd say. Stick with it, long delay at the beginning while the guy sets up his camera.
You know, when Donovan McNabb puts one up in the air like that, it's probably going for 6 in the other direction.
Not from the game, but I couldn't resist. Madden gets all Freudian in last year's Giants-Cowboys game.

I wouldn't really call the classic ambulance one a glitch really. I remember that one vividly from my first ever experience of Madden, probably around this time - that and an "HB Toss Left" that would, nine times out of ten, guarantee me a touchdown.
Of course, being British, I still have no idea what it means to this day.

Madden 09 looks AMAZING BTW ... the graphics and atmosphere in the stadiums are so realistic.

ZOMG. The Josh Bullocks video is mind-blowing. Roger Goodell's got to crack down on that Exorcist shit posthaste, or soon everyone's going to think it's cool to whip your neck around. Remember the good old days, when it was just the Icky Shuffle and stuff?

I laughed on the videos. Not a bad way to start off the day! I like the classic Madden with the ambulance. I love exploiting the hell out of injuring the players. Aww... now I want to get the game again for that sole reason.

We used to do this all the time, it was even in the old electronic gaming magazines about how hilarious it was to see the ambulance run over other players to save another.

Oh, Madden glitches, you are the card. Why, last night, I was playing Madden 07 (I don't wanna upgrade...what, do you wanna fight?), and it wouldn't let me pick a play, pause, or call timeout. I was in the fourth quarter. God bless you, Madden.

@erlik: definately madden, NCAA has tons of glitches this year while Madden's only glitch I've found is it's logic when you challenge a play.

@MSUHitman: Good to know, thanks. I generally prefer the college game (no millionaire crybabies, except some of the coaches), but if it's buggy maybe I'll pick up Madden this year. Haven't actually bought either since the 2004 Gamecube edition (great NCAA version), but my PS3 is itching for some football. I'd get both, but shipping (to Japan) is a bitch, nearly doubles the price if I use Amazon.

Madden '92 was the last decent Madden game ever... That said, a guy I work with was telling me they misspelled Favre's name on one small section of the game. Now how's that for awesome?

It's retarded glitches like the Kyle Boller throwing the ball backwards why I hate Madden. This happened to me on numerous occasions.
The exorcist DB: at least the ball didn't go through his hands like what happens to me on Madden a lot.

I fuckin love Madden '92. I used to play that game religiously when I was a kid. HB Toss Left and Hail Marys were unstoppable in that game. I'd rather play '92 than '05-'07, seriously.
And I wouldn't call that a glitch consider it happened every time a player got injured. I used love seeing when the ambulance went on the field.

On the "shits a ball" one, the related videos shows one labeled "Best Madden glitch ever". They're not kidding. It's 5 minutes but worth it -- transporter accidents, black holes, gravity malfunctions, doubled footballs.

09 Bugs that I've encountered:
Video freezing on the play-calling screen, only fixed by a hard reboot. This has happened to me 6 times now, all during different quarters.
After using the 'rewind' function, after the second attempt at the same down, if they bring up a Time of Possession graphic, it's an astronommical number. Rewind officially breaks the time-space continuum.

I think Madden '92 was the first and last Madden I played, and I also wouldn't call t a glitch. At the time I thought they were just trying to be funny, or maybe it was a glitch and they decided not to fix it because it was funny.
