I was under the impression that it was being developed for PC first and being ported from there. I got that from a Kotaku poster so I guess they were wrong.
I suppose SE releasing it in Japan first before porting it makes sense. Seems like there kind of thing.

Fable is seriously gonna kick some ass. They got a new set of XBOXs coming out if you havnt heard (i think its pretty common knowledge by now, im way behind on this stuff ;p). I think its called the "Jasper" or something and its less susceptible to RROD and other malfunctions. Most of the ones released after the initial batch are fine from what I hear, Ive had mine from launch and still no problems... yet.

I just hope that our short list gets a nice facelift at some point, I would love nothing more then having both systems do really well after forking out the cash for both. ;)

@smuckers is good: i had the exact same experience- the demo brought me close to tears, but i played the hell out of it 12. i actually didn't get around to playing dq8 through until i had bought finally beaten ff12. dq8 took a long time for me to get into it, and many false starts.

i'll be among the people who buy the movie for the demo. march '09 is so far away that i could honestly care less right now though. square are the kings of the non-news lately.

People who intend to buy FFXIII in Japan likely already own the film and already have a PS3 in preparation for FFXIII, much less for some demo. I'm also not surprised (where did I write I was?) by this as I can name several games where Squaresoft put exclusive demo's in games that could only be played upon purchase (FFVIII on Brave Fencer Musashi), so no, this isn't the first time I've known about Square (or any developer) doing this sort of thing. Nice assumptions. Yet, this is 2008. You know there are far easier methods of releasing demos today then back in the day.

Lastly, I have a nice Phillips 1080p HD television with excellent sound & picture quality, the first barebones edition of Advent Children, along with the limited edition version (black box, cloud on the cover, Tetsuya Nomura signature, CGI character cards, etc), and I still don't see the justification. I personally don't care about watching Advent Children in HD, but I would like to play the demo of FFXIII. Why do I have to buy one to get the other? What makes Square-Enix think their demos are worth an admission price when they're ready to be released to the public? If you want to buy it, fine, but don't sell me naive excuses when I say I won't.

They just started development on the 360 version and FFXIII is exclusive to the PS3 in japan. This is a japan exclusive sorta thing. i'm sure the demo will show up in other territories for both systems towards the end of 2009 maybe. it depends on how fast they can localize the game and how quickly they can get the 360 version ready.

I didn't think FFVII:AC was that awful. Weak story, but it still kinda holds as a whole. I admit, that movie was just pure eyecandy and that's about it.

Well at first the demo thing sounds dodgy but thinking bout it,it sounds excellent.I bought DQVIII for the same reason and never regreted it.FFAC was really pretty on DVD and now@1080p blu-ray.Z0mg.

@ksins5: blu-rays (and hd-dvds) can be decrypted/ripped since last year. google muslix64, or see the doom9 forums for much more on that.

Lol at some of the comments. This is confirmation of a JAPANESE Demo. 360 development has not started yet. And since when has Square given out free demos. So no, Square won't release it on Xbox Live in a few months. And no, they don't need a demo to interest 360 owners. They were interested the second they caught wind of "lost PS3 exclusive".
