Well it's a nice little incentive, but my point was that it's a terrible reason to actually want an iPod, especially if you go for the whole "Apple Consumer" thing you were talking about.

@Aye Mak Sicur: Well I'll agree on that but I'd say it's more like getting a limited edition console rather than just a faceplate because this is customisation and it won't come as cheap as a simple face plate removal. It's more of an extra incentive rather than a redeeming quality and I was defending that it might be enough to turn some people as in my first post (top one) I said I'd only get it if I had an ipod myself.

They'll add a little extra hard drive space, make it a little smaller or do some other minorly useful thing to it and charge you over £100. There's other stuff on the market so if you get an Ipod it's most likely cos you're an Apple consumer.

Basically it's about identity, while I don't really want to be merely identified as an apple consumer (not a fan of that company) if I could personalize it to look more like something that suits my tastes then it's not bad. So it's a matter of taste, idendity and whatever else crap.

I'd rather not get an ipod and rather just get a phone with music in it to save my money but if I can have an Ipod that looks as cool as that then it makes it interesting for me.

I'll admit that my first ipod was purchased partially due to cosmetics. I just like green, so I wanted the green ipod mini. However I also bought it because it was 100 dollars cheaper then the other one. I guess I just dont get excited about stuff like this. Are they going to be selling them or do you have to send yours in or something? Bah, not only do I hate delayed gratification, but I dont want one anyway. Ima go, and ima take my fail with me.

You can indeed use custom artwork. They have their own selection from partners but you can use your own choice of art as well.

Pricing depends on the item you want etched. $60 or so for an iPod Touch/phone, $100+ for a 15" laptop. It totally varies with the actual item you wish to get etched. You have two options as well, buy the product from them and get it etched or send in your own. There is a third of going to their store in LA as well.

Yeah, I researched all this because I actually would love to get a Ryu on my iPod Touch saying "You must defeat my dragon punch to stand a chance!" or the errornous "You must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance!" for giggles. Geeky giggles at that. Too bad they're in LA of all places. It's an official partnership with Capcom so I'd trust them over someone locally in the UK.
