Sooooo....basically it's got an rpg gameplay with Sonic name tacked onto it, but basically you can swap out Sonic with any franchise and it would be the same game? What exactly make this decisively Sonic?

The combat looks pretty cool, actually, but that trailer was a groaner. "POW moves"? Not a terrible name for a game mechanic, but an odd thing to throw out unpreceded in a trailer.

From the video, the combat seems more command-orientated than action-orientated. It seems to me like this will be Sonic's version of Super Mario RPG....not that I'm complaining :)

@robotomasher: It's an RPG version of a classic platformer. Super Mario RPG seemed to do well enough without a lot of series staples, so it only used what it could and seemed to work well enough. Sonic RPG seems to be doing the same thing here.

I'll look into it, definitely. Last Sonic game I played was Secret Rings, and that reminded me why 3D Sonic games shouldn't exist. I really need to play the Sonic Rush games, but at my rate, I'll play this before them.

Reminds me of Mario RPG kind of. Also that is not realtime combat! What lies are they spouting? Grandia or Star Ocean is an example of real-time JRPG style combat, not this combat style which looks straight out of Mario RPG.
