Next Wolfenstein Will Be Hitler-Free

There will be Nazis, but no Hilter. As previously announced, id Software is back at work on another Wolfenstein, which is due out "when it's done". And the game won't feature Adolf Hitler. Id's lead artist Kevin Cloud explains:
No, he's [Hitler's] not in our game. We've got to save something for future Wolfensteins. We can't do him in yet! ...That's one of the cool things again about the Wolfenstein universe: we go back and we pull some of these things from real history and spin this what-if story for some of it, and some of it just kind of blows out... So like the Kreisau Circle originally is more of a group of aristocrats working behind the scenes in hopes to overthrow Hitler. Here, they're gun-toting resistance forces fighting on the streets. But it's kind of nice to take those elements, have a framework of reality, and build it out.
Well, Hitler wasn't in the last Wolfenstein. He can't be in every game, you know.

Without hitler it's a just a normal WWII FPS shooter with a sci-fi twist... I wonder what hitler will say about this... Coming Soon if someone makes it "Hitler finds out on not being on the new Wolfenstein game"

Do video game companies have to pay royalties to some Hitler Family trust if they put his likeness in a game? is that why he's not going to be in Bionic re-armed as well? i guess i wouldn't want to put a young Hitler through college either.

i could believe having Hitler in a game can cause some politcal problems. Not everybody is psyched to have him in a game i could believe. Especially here in Germany it would be the first reason to ban the game from every store shelves.
But hell, i got no problem shooting in his face over and over again. It would be a reason to buy the game twice :)

Kevin Cloud is LYING.
They don't have the balls to include him, that's all. The first Wolfenstein had a more limited media exposure, so they could pull it off. Now they don't want controversy, only pulp action. Come on id, grow your balls back!

Wolfenstein without Hitler is just an ordinary WW2-era shooter with some elements of the occult. He was the entire motivation behind the original Wolfenstein. If you're going to run around gunning down Nazis, you might as well have the kingpin at the top rather than some random "other guy" that no one will accept.
Seriously, it's the wrong idea. For all intents and purposes, they should think of Hitler as Dracula. No one complains about how Dracula returns in every Castlevania game. With Hitler, no matter how many times he is killed, some crazy Nazi scientist should a way to bring him back.
