Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad Coming To 360
Posted by Mike Fahey at 8:20 AM on August 5, 2008
Why should Wii owners have all the bikini zombie slaying fun? Eagle-eyed Kotakuite Jeff caught a listing on D3Publisher's website for Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad, an Xbox 360 exclusive version of the game. Control both sisters, Aya and Saki, as they strive to save the earth from zombie infestation. A special dress-up mode allows you to unlock special costumes and outfit the girls as you see fit, so I'm pretty much sold already. Others might enjoy Story Mode, Free Play Mode, Survival Mode, and Quest Mode, but I'm all about playing dress-up and then showing off my outfits via co-op multiplayer.
D3Publishers is being a bit sneaky with this one, as I found no mention whatsoever of the game outside of their page, but we'll be sure to update you as soon as we have info on a release target, more gameplay details, or pictures of the pretty, pretty clothing.

The graphics look bad in this game from the screen shoots I have seen. Looks closer to a Wii or PS2 title than a 360 one from what little available images there are floating around. The concept of slashing up zombies in nothing but a bikini is appealing to me but the breasts had better be oversized and the zombies better be sex deprived!!!!

Cool. I was expecting them to bring it over eventually.

@Erwin: No, let the dude live. Just make sure every last bit of his life makes him wish for death till the point where he kills himself. You'll feel better at the end of the day knowing that you made him go through hell before he goes to hell.

I see they are not only trying to appeal to the "OMG HOT LADY IN A BIKINI" crowd, but are also looking at "OMG LOLI IN SCHOOLGIRL UNIFORM" crowd too.
Kudos to D3Publisher

@D Mitsuki: Well, yeah, but you really need to specify which type of activity of the lonely nerd you're talking about then.
And why would you kill someone who wronged you? That's just lowering yourself to their level for some cheap vengeance. Random hits and wrongful death of acquaintances ftw, sir.
(I wonder where this conversation will take me next...)
@Communist_Gamer: Probably rapists too (preferably neither), because "rapers" sounds too much like Rapier, and that's just confusing.

@Communist_Gamer: Murder and rape are WAY different things. A man kills my family, I kill him. Rape? I like a woman a lot, but she has no interest in me. No I don't rape her, I mean I'm sure we have all been in those situations to lead to a rape, but few of us have been in ones to lead to murder. (At least a sane kind of murder, like a logical reason behind it, not just some psycho crap.)

@Erwin: Theres a difference between humping your pillow then buying a anime girl on it and pretending that she's real and she's the only girl you need. Just saying.
Murder isn't cool at all. If you kill a person who has wronged you, how will you ever make him pay for it if you just kill him? Slow painful and prolonged ftw.

If the media thinks us gamers are murderers, surely rapers isn't far either?

@D Mitsuki: Sex with pillows is as American as apple pie and drug addiction, and I'm pretty sure tentacles can catch on since people here are having sex with everything else. And gamers certainly do it, they just don't brag about such things like they do with murders. Murder is cool, I would totally spill the beans on homicide or just giggle uncontrollably around their loved ones. Rape isn't cool. Ever. Except when pterodactyls and zucchini are involved.

GamesRadar just posted a story up a few minutes ago (don't remember seeing it before sending you this), and the game appears to be targeting an Early '09 release. Maybe they're releasing both games the same day?

@Erwin: Oh no no no, all that stuff goes on (sans tentacles and pillows...I hope) but gamers generally are not the ones doing it. How many time have you heard a gamer say "Yeah I raped that 5 year old girl." Never because the second said that it would be the top story on Fox next day saying SOME GAME he played was linked to it.

So games like this are actually coming out in America? I just hope to god we don't get a negative "otaku" image that those otaku dudes have in Japan. Because we don't rape little girls, rape older girls, rape your mom, rape you with tentacles, or rape you with cucumbers. Nor do we sleep with pillows of anime characters on them. (Not saying all Japanese otaku do but all that stuff is still marketed so somebody's playing/using it...)

@D Mitsuki: Well, yeah, that's just common sense, torturing a person that is, but getting someone in a position to where this is possible is hard in today's world. Sometimes I wish for the good old days, when soda was a nickel, ladies were fair, kids were raised right, and people were tied up and forced into your car with nary a struggle. Just another reason why society is crumbling.

Oh man, yay! Nothing like a little B-grade hack and slash to help you release stress after a long work day.
Incidentally, anybody who loves the Oneechanbara games should really check out "Samurai Western" for PS2; it's a great title in a similar vein, and the ridiculous amount of customization you can apply to your character (along with the hilarious item descriptions) made it a classic that I still pick up and play from time to time.

Eh, maybe go after this one. I do have my share of quirky games for the 360 (Bullet Witch, EDF 2017, and Wartech, which I just found again for 6.99). Given how fast those titles got reduced, I expect Oneechanbara to do the same.

@GamePark32: Quirky Japanese games? You make it sound a lot better than it is. This is just jailbait covering up for a mediocre game experience. Stuff 12-year olds would buy to show their friends. Look, I'd love to make a witty comment about how great it is to be a gamer these days and bahblahblah, but getting serious here, I just don't see the appeal. I'd buy it for a friend. As a joke. But not if it costs me more than 10 bucks.

The wii version was going to be an instant buy for me but with the 360 version coming I definately will be going for that version. The 360 OneeChanBara has higher production values, a larger budget and way more red gooey stuff. Not to mention DLC and crazyness. Hell maybe I will get both if their release days are are a long while apart.
