I don't have a PS3 yet, but color me intrigued! I've always wanted a crazy "tower defense" game where the odds are outrageously against the player.

This looks kind of ugly, but the virtue of TD games is the number of things on screen.

TD games are usually either as addictive as crack, or completely stupid, so we'll see. If nothing else though, it's a genre that's kind of ignored outside of flash games.

Just looking like Starship Troopers isn't enough for me! (Mostly because I'm not a big fan of tower defense games.) I need Neil Patrick Harris to be a deployable weapon! He'd be super-effective against ground-based enemies, unicorns, and hungry potheads. That would be LEGEND...wait for it...

@Acebuckeye13: It's not based on either. If you read the article it says "not really", it's just got giant bugs. He was just saying that a good metaphor for the game, is Starship Troopers meets Tower Deefence. Not that it IS Starship Troopers. And he probably meant the movie anyway.

Also, to fenderfuel08, just search for tower defense games on Newgrounds (or your casual net gaming site of choice) and you'll get what it is. Basically, it's kinda like those "Defend this spot" levels in RTS games. But that's the whole game.

@Atheist Jew: I don't think you can have that feeling of being overwhelmed from a top-down perspective, barring something along the lines of having 50 zerglings swarming you. The fact that pretty much all TD games have creeps neatly following a line also takes it away.

So yea, if they all just rush you, even 20 creeps may be freaky.

I will pay so much money for more tower defense.

Maybe WC3 spoiled me though, as Monsters didn't really capture the thrill that a really good Mafa TD or Element TD game gave me. I'm gonna have to go back and install Warcraft again to play that. Hopefully DotA hasn't overrun the servers. But if you gave that a fresh coat of paint and put it up on PSN, I'd probably buy that too.

So basically, port Warcraft III to PSN = PROFIT? I don't see why Blizzard bothers making new shit anymore when a tiny little freaction of Warcraft III spawned an entire genre of gaming. EA would be on that shit so fast.

I actually preferred Starship Troopers 3 over the original. There was just...something...about the SM being a pop idol that made it a good movie. And the mechs (at least they TRIED to make it sort of like the novel).
