Sony ain't always too great at jumping on good ideas right away though. It's a flaw in their current management arrangement. This is one of the issues that frustrated Phil Harrison.

FWIW the Wikipedia article says that movie broke nearly every box office record in France. Makes sense to include it in a bundle. We'll probably be seeing an Americanized version in the states before long that will no doubt be savaged as being not nearly as good as the original.

Wont be surprised if thats just for France, and they do a different deal for other EU countries (maybe still with Pathe though. Hmmm)

@Garo: Most people have not heard of that film so are a bit surprised it warrants a bundle. Surely Sony have bigger boxoffice hits they can bundle with? Like someone else said why not throw in the remote as well? That would be a bundle, otherwise it's just a PS3 with a Blu Ray film saving maybe £10-£15.

I think their going to come up with a solution that works for all their systems, not phase it out.

I say this with one of my best friends being French (he lives in St. Etienne): Looking at that box picture makes me want to punch a Frenchman in the face. It is very curious, this rage that wells inside of me from that picture.

As for the GT5 package? That's pretty sweet. Maybe not as good as our MGS4 package, but having 2 dualshocks is pretty snazzy.

The french movie is excellent. It makes a lot of sense for Sony to bundle it for France considering the movie has broken almost all, if not all, movie records there.

It's not any different from the Spiderman bundle we had here in North America, except this time the movie is worth watching.

@xCruciaLx: Some people don't have the real estate for so many consoles. I have a small entertainment center filled a DVR, 360 an Wii. There's just enough room for a PS3, but not for both a PS3 and a PS2 unless I started stacking. Plus, I have a huge collection of PS2 games, many of which I'd be very happy to play again.

I think the fact that so many people are clamoring for BC is a sign that it's what people want. In fact, its absence is the only thing keeping me from picking up a PS3 at the moment. Hopefully they're just saving a BC capable system for the holiday season.

Most of the people I know with PS3s bought it solely as a Blu-Ray player. I'm buying mine this Fall, and if it didn't have Blu-Ray support I would probably not bother since I do most of my gaming on the PC.

Sony doesn't listen to people that are craving for BC. You guys had your chance when Sony released the 80GB and the MGS4 Bundle 2 months ago. My brother bought the MGS4 Bundle while I bought the GunMetal. We have lots of PS2 games but he rarely play them on the PS3. I think he only played MGS3 once in the PS3.

Believe it or not, as far as French movies go, this one is actually funny, and was HUGE in France. Bundling it with a PS3 may be a genius move, after all.

Just pack in that Blu ray remote like someone else said and you'll have yourself a movie console! I have a few friends who own a PS3 for Blurays and play games on their 360s. It does happen.

Just for the record, the movie in the second bundle is the highest-grossing movie ever in France: 20 millions tickets sold in a country of 64 million people... So yeah, no matter what one may think of the movie, it is a very strong bundle from a commercial standpoint.

I don´t see what´s the problem about the PS3 being marketed as a Blu Ray player, the same happened with the PS2 and the DVD, it was the cheapest DVD player at the time and it was one of the major triggers of the growth of DVD market (It was the first and only DVD player i ever needed) the only downside was the region code for people (like me) who imported it; The Ps3 is my first Bluray player and i´m planning to rebuy several of my movies in the new format, which will help the market, has a lot of great games and helps me get the 100% of my HDTV, and has better media playback (my PS3 looks so much better than the 360 ON MY TV, i don´t intend a flamewar) so i just see this move like a really intelligent one.

Finally bought my PS3 yesterday, cost £350 for the 80GB console, two Dual Shock 3s, Soul Calibur IV and Grid (originally packaged with Haze, but they thankfully didn't have any in stock). I grimaced and the people behind me in the queue laughed as I handed over my card. It was all very emotional.

This movie is extremely popular in France and Belgium, it is pretty hilarious if you speak french, but subtitles wont work. The movie beat Titanic in box office sales over there, and that was there record holder.

While I was there I even heard rumors that Will Smith baught the rights to the story so that he could have it re-written to work using American cultural refrences. This box set will push sales in France and Belgium, Sony knows what they are doing.
