@Osagasu: Blizzard is notorious for pushing back release dates. Even if a date is set, if they feel its not right or ready they will either delay release or can the project entirely.

From what we've been told, I believe it will be mid-November. A good month and a half before Starcraft 2, to make it a hell of a white Christmas, Blizzard all over the place.

Hey, remember Burning Crusade and the pre-christmas release? No? That's because they missed it.
I remember reading on forums how people took two weeks of vacation off (from the supposed release date) so they could spend 2 weeks non-stop WoWing in Outlands. Boy were they pissed when it got delayed.

Ah well, maybe they got it down this time.

Anyways, I'm glad it's coming out this year. I'm excited to try out the new Deathknight class, probably along with everyone else.

Definitely hope this comes out before Christmas. TBC is getting old.

@Channing: Seriously? Were they aware of Blizzard's track record? Neglecting the fact that a two week WoW vacation is...well...unhealthy, banking on Blizzard releasing on time is just CRAZY.

When BC came out it was awful. A new college semester had JUST started so I was pretty sleepy during its entirety. Doesn't matter now, done with college. Addictions are much easier to let run rampant.

Buuuut, it's fun that when WotlK comes out it'll probably be winter so it'll match the theme of cold/dead in this expansion. Immersion?

It makes sense that it would come out this year. BC beta only went on for a few months, and we're already in beta for WotLK. They could have a longer beta than BC and still release it this year.

my money is on sometime after christmas since they just made that little statement about it being done when its done and they don't care about making the new expansion every year mark.
