You Too Can Decorate Hatsune Miku's Room
Posted by Brian Ashcraft at 8:00 PM on August 27, 2008
In the upcoming issue of Famitsu, SEGA announced that it's making a PSP game starring Hatune Miku. Hatune Miku is a character for Vocaloid2 Character Vocal Series software, but has gone on to appear in manga, anime and even get a cameo in a DS game! Here, you can listen to her sing the Portal song in Japanese!
Anyway, about the PSP game, it's a rhythm game which lets players win stuff and decorate Miku's room. Beside rhythm games, you can watch her walk around. Oh, and it's called Hatsune Mikue -Project Diva-. Thrilling title.

Miku tie-ups in the past have not done so hot, and as time passes usually these things only go down in popularity (the idolmaster stuff there are still popular, but nowhere as near as they were a year ago). Of course, this isn't like NIS's games where they just did a synth job to have her sing the theme song, and it's a DS game so the profit line ought to be pretty low.

So does the vocalizer have any part in this game or is it only the character? Either way, if the rhythm game is decent, I might pick it up. I could use another music game on my PSP along with DJMAX.

Vocaloid is an amazing vocal sythesizer, yet not at all easy to master. People familiar with NicoNico (Japanese video content site like youtube with a twist) knows how much free time people have. Hundreds of 3rd party songs, 3rd Custom made program to sythesize a 3D Miku dance doll.; makes me wonder what people makes as a living.

Gah - I was reading and thinking that they'd have a PSP port/version of Vocaloid, hoping that the PSP and DS could finally make sweet music together.

@Rexter: If I remember she appeared cameo in the anime Zoku Sayonora Zetsubo Sensei. Not sure which episode though but it had to do with Meru when they needed to find a voice actor for her voice.

@AnnihilatorX:
Nico kinda stomps all over Youtube. Some of the content they come up with is near professional quality level its almost embarassing.

Guess she is the wrong word to use, "someone" used the software to make her do it after Portal

@Kaizuden: If you think shes not so well known then you obviously do not know Japan.
Shes been in other games before also, so the only diff is this is an official game that is totally for her.

Huh, well I guess it's official when a character from a not-so-well-known voice synthesizer makes it into a officially published game that its into mainstream now. But after trying to do anything in Vocaloid2 (Just achieving Miku to say random things was as far as I got) It's nice to try to get in on this phenomenon wise. Now all we need is something for the next gen consoles... Hmm.

That's cool. Kind of funny considering that when Miku was a guest on まいにちいっしょ I got a Miku poster to decorate my in-game room with.
