Looks like the summer doldrums are over for me! I'm buying a new 360 today, so I can start back up on Rock Band and GTA IV, as well as download Braid, Geometry Wars 2, and Castle Crashers.

Then come Sunday it's Spore...been waiting 3 1/2 years for this game, and to be honest all the waiting has worn down a lot of the excitement I had for this game. Hopefully the spark will be reignited when I get it.

Also on Sunday is the pre-order beta for Warhammer Online, but I imagine it will take a while to download and everything so it might not be until later in the week I get to play it.

If I have any extra down time, I also have BC: Reamred, WoW, Phoenix Wright 3, and DMC4.

Finishing up the second half of Vesperia, and then maybe moving on to Yumeria -- one of the spiritual predecessors to Idolmaster -- that I managed to pick up while in Japan. I didn't even know it was actually a RPG with battles in it! I'm so excited after hearing from people that it's a great idea gone horribly wrong with abominable battle sequences.

Mercenaries 2! despite what you've heard it really isn't a bad game at all! yes it has bugs but I don't know a single game that doesn't; and yes the A.I. is bad but I've never played a single free roaming game that has good A.I. Coop is pretty neat too! I even got the Everyone Wants Some achievement. If anyone wants to get it real quick drop me a message, my gamertag is Weeoo.
Hopefully I'll be able to catch up on some Super Smash Bros. Brawl because I haven't played that in a while, it's alot of fun! I wonder if anyone still plays it online0_o

Well, I bought Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction last Saturday, & I played through it once today. That's 6 days after I bought the game! Really, that's more like 5 days since I only played it for 1 or 2 hours the day I got it. Although, I did play a lot today. While I was impressed with the graphics of the game, overall, I was a little bit disappointed. The controls are pretty much like the old R&C games, but they switched some of the buttons around, which took some getting used to. The majority of the weapons handle pretty well, except for whatever the Tornado weapon is called. You have to stand still & tilt your controller to move the tornado while the enemies are firing everywhere at you. I kept getting hurt this way. All the other motion stuff worked well. Most of the ideas for the weapons weren't that original. They're basically the same as ones from previous games in the series. And the story definitely wasn't as good as in past games, even though there was that huge cliffhanger ending! It sort of combined the stories of all the previous games and put them in one package.

But, now I'm replaying the game with the Multiplier for bolts, Raritanium, & Experience, as well as find stuff/places I missed, & get more Skill Points. I played this game a TON today while I waited for my Pure demo to install. Speaking of which, I thought it was a pretty good demo. I hate that you have to do the tutorial every time you start the demo, & there's only one race. I did like the main concept in Pure: pulling tricks to get boost to win the race. I also like that in the full game, you have 16-player online races, HUGE bike & character customization options, and TONS of crazy tricks! This might be a good game to rent. I guess the game is coming in a few weeks, since at the end of the demo, it said "September 2008."

The rest of the year is going to go by so fast for me. I got school, work, all of these games I have the opportunity to play...it's just going to be awesome!

Ahh Gals Panic. I discovered this gem of a series in an arcade during a trip to Ibiza Spain. When I get back I downloaded every game in the series for mame. Great game with a little extra for those who finish the puzzles. I think I'll play some Gals Panic S this weekend.

PURE demo was a lame rehash of ATV Offroad Fury, so that's off the list. Going to finish up Mario Super Sluggers, Return to Castle Wolfenstein (second playthrough after a couple of years), maybe start into NFS Carbon and C&C Red Alert.

At night i'm gonna have to decide between Siren: Blood Curse and Silent Hill for some horror. I've also been going back through other games again, trying to fully appreciate them. I've been playing Bioshock and Call of Duty 4 on the hardest difficulty (hard with no vita chambers in Bioshock) with the surround sound turned up. There's just something really satisfying about that. I also might download the Super Mario RPG, and I'm gonna see if I can find Spore anywhere, since I can't download it on a mac. Finally, I'll probably hook up my old N64 and play some Donkey Kong 64. I never beat that game.

Merc 2 and Madden.

Merc 2 suffers from some really poor control decisions. I am so used to driving vehicles using the L1/R1 triggers that I am having problems with driving at times. there seems to be no rhyme or reason to hand combat controls, it doesn't even give an option to use the Six-Axis motion controls (which would be fun with weapons and driving), and requires the right button at the right time to complete an action. The icons are really small, and, overall the whole presentation can get very confusing.

Madden has, without a doubt, the steepest learning curve that I have ever encountered in a sports game. The myriad of plays, of defensive plans, of audibles, etc. make this game very tough to master. On a smaller HDTV it is very hard to recognize the icons, which can lead to a wrong decision or two. But, overall, the game play is satisfying, the commentary is good, although repetitive, and I am slowly coming along. Still want a defensive POV though. On my HDTV I can't always see the outside wide receivers or DB's.

I hope that Spore, for all of its potential, doesn't disappoint.

Mercenaries 2, despite everyone talking crap about it i'm enjoying the shit out of it, bad resolutions for 1680x1050 monitors go unnoticed, bugs are just funny rather than annoying, coop is hard to find these days, so yeah! blow crap up!
