I do like that but barely more than just playing a random online game. What's wrong with random gamers? I don't mind playing FPS on random but fighting games I'll agree they're dumb and cheap.

I agree but I'd rather just play with my real friends than people I meet online and most of them don't play enough to make it worth my while. I agree that playing with friends is great but I can't help but feel single player is enough. Oh well it depends on what you wanted and I've said what I think so I'm off now.

@Nside: Meh, I traded in my Wii for a Zune and my PS3 for cash to buy PC parts. I don't buy Bluray and I was tired of my Wii collecting dust. God knows I get more use out of my PC, MP3 player, and 360. The one game that I was saving my PS3 for was FF13, but now that's 360 bound. I dunno, maybe I'm jaded. Or impatient. Either way, I have a badass PC now and a Zune that I use 1000% more than my Wii.

Well I have had my 360 recently go to silver account (since the gold ran out) and I'm not planning on putting it back on gold. I think mutliplayer games are fun but in the end I've always preferred single player games. Maybe I'd enjoy multiplayer games more if there wasn't as much lag, host advantage, annoying people and cheap noobs (I just can't stand not letting people up on fighting games, it's kind of sad when people act like they're good just cos they know how to exploit the game to keep you on the ground and defenseless). Multiplayer is fun but looking at the games I'm getting soon (Tales of vesperia, Too human, Star ocean 4, Gears of war 2, Halo wars possibly, infinite undiscovery possibly, Fable 2 possibly and possibly Last remnant) there's only one multiplayer game.

@Llost: Then your issues with those two fighters aren't exclusive to online play. I for one have never had a problem. You do the move right as you land or in the air and you have a better than average chance of getting right up before the hit can land or blocking/avoiding. Plus SC IV has that air moving where you pick where you land.

All in all, it's not the online I see as a problem in your statemtn. In SC IV or DOA4. DOA4 actually has far more lag anyway.

He'll buy a console (or handheld) play it for awhile, get bored and trade it in for another, then repeat the process over and over constantly throwing his money away. I tell him, just save and buy both you idiot... and then don't sell them! Some people just don't have the patience or foresight. I only just picked up a PS3 not too long ago and may pick up a 360 someday. I would have not been a happy PS3 owner if I had bought one at launch but I waited before I made a purchase into the next gen and I'm glad I did because right now I'm loving the hell out of my PS3 and looking forward to the huge amount of awesome games that are coming out for it in both the near and distant future.

I think the other problem is people get sucked into all hype and fanboy bullshit that they do a lot of bandwagon jumping and don't really consider what console or consoles actually appeals to them. When I first bought my PS3 I had some doubts and was second guessing whether or not I made the right choice. But then I had to stop and ignore what everyone else was saying and I realized I actually was happy with decision and didn't want a 360, at all. At least for the time being.

When I got my PS3 this past June, I didnt touch my 360 until Bionic Commando Rearmed came out (and then Castle Crashers and then Too Human) now my PS3 doesnt see much time...that is until Motorstorm PR comes out.

Sure, the two first acts of MSG4 were great, but not $450 great.
Hopefully Killzone 2 will give me some more value back into the PS3.
Other than that title, I dont see any PS3 exclusive I really really want, and all multiplatform titles are bought on the 360.

I gotta agree with the artical. I find myself having a huge friends list on my 360 but I am little by little gaining friends on my PSN account. You see I like the fact that everyone (almost everyone) has a mic. Yes you get butt holes on live but the mute is but a click away. On the PSN I find it hard to find anyone with a mic and if I do the mics are almost always garbled or not working correctly. There are just over 12 million Live users so the odds of finding like minded gamers is easier on Live. PS I found that the gamers that play SOCOM are cool people but gamers on Warhawk barely use a mic. I just don't add people I play with I need to hear them as to get to know how they game so I can weed out the people that are disrespectful.

Stupid bastard shouldn't have sold his 360 in the first place. If you're going to sell a console and games, sell it on eBay or Craigslist. Just by selling some of your GAMES you could have enough for a PS3, you didn't need to sell it ALL. Even THEN, the best option is to just save up some money and buy a PS3 later. I never like to sell games (Unless they were absolutely terrible) because it builds up a collection, you know, something to be proud of and that you OWN.

Just to add on to the PC vs consoles debate, I just got a new PC a month ago, it cost over $1000, compare that to starting last Friday Futureshop (a store like Best Buy, also owned by Best Buy here in Canada), is selling their remaining stock of 20GB pro editions of the 360 for $199 with Gears, and DOABV2, that is less that the cost of upgrading your video card. Sure PC gaming is wonderful when you have the hardware, but it does become quite expensive when you need to spend ~$300 on upgrades after a year and a half, and get an entirely new PC after 3 or 4 years which costs over $800. PC gaming is awesome with user generated content, and for several games, better online (TF2 is infinitely better on PC), but on basis of cost, and knowing that your console won't be outdated within 2 or 3 years, consoles are much better. what is really needed is a console that give the user customization of the pc, and solid online play (the 360 is pretty good for online though), with the safety of knowing your your console will be able to play the latest games for it for the next 5-6 years.

Well, I traded in FOUR 360s, bought five (later took it up to six) PS3s, and I haven't regretted it one bit. Maybe they should feature me on MSNBC - I mean, CNBC...because the two aren't affiliated at all I'm sure.

The basis for my lack of regret wasn't Live being worse than PSN (for what I do, they run about even now), the lack of regret is based on the fact that none of the PS3s has failed yet, and all of the 360s had.

Dumping them wasn't a bad idea, since I got reasonable trade-in value, and someone else has to deal with the almost certain repeat failures...hopefuly they'll buy the service plan. The only reason I did it at Gamestop instead of selling them was that I wanted a potential buyer to have the option of a service plan - I would have hated to sell them to someone and have them just be hosed when the RROD hit again.

Newsflash: trading in a console that you like for another console that you may or may not like is retarded. If you're interested in both, buy and keep both. To the old lady's son: kid, yo momma must make some good money with her job, get her to buy you a 360 and dont trade in your PS3. Otherwise we'll be seeing a "my son traded in his 360 for a PS3 again" article in a few months.

It was funny to see that he traded the 360 for the PS3, however, trading everything was a mistake, while not have both systems. But even now if you can't have both you can still have fun with PS3. He probably only misses the one game that he can't have on PS3... Halo 3. Hang in there Jane Well's son, Resistance and Killzone 2 are coming!

Got PixelJunk Eden, stuck in garden 9 trying to find that last damn spectra, started playing Uncharted again for the trophy hunt, started playing Warhawk again because jetpacks and collection are hot to death. Still playing UT3 on PS3 because it has m/kb support and kick ass mod support. bought shadow of the colossus and beat that upscaled to HD on my PS3. Got Soul Caliber IV on PS3 because the d-pad on the 360 controller is trash. People reacted really harshly to the price tag of the PS3, but consumers often forget how little purchases add up. They will accept buying tons of games over time, but not paying a lesser amount for a system. Possibly because their balance is perpetually low and they don't know how to save up for a bigger ticket item that they desire. The mentality seems to be, 'Big ticket items are to be shunned because I can't hold on to $300 let alone $700 or a thousand.' Nothing to be ashamed of if you can't help it, but it's a clear bias.

Oh, and Jane Wells' son likes donating to gamestop.

My Gold also expired recently & I'm not upgrading again until there is something really worth upgrading for. In the meantime, I'll just use the free PSN & buy PS3 games.

I realised that owning both consoles really causes a problem when paying for Live. Y'see, I might play a 360 game for a few weeks & then play the PS3 for a few weeks - it could be 2 or 3 months before I get another decent 360 online game. So, out of my year subscription I only get 2 months worth of online use. Effectively it means that a game for the 360 costs (game price + gold subscription) because unless the game is something awesome online, such as COD4, you get very little online use out of it.

My 360 is still my online machine. I jump on for some brief Soul Cal or MGO on my PS3 but by and large, I have no real enthusiasm...so few of my friends also own PS3's, and of them, we don't all own the same games. On the other hand I know maybe 20 360 owners personally, and we all have the major hitters...Halo 3, CoD4, GTA4, etc. It's more organized, we can invite each other to games, and everyone got a mic with their system...and their live pack...and their webcam pack...and their messenger pad...guaranteeing that we can all communicate. If you didn't buy the retail box of Warhawk, you probably don't have a PS3 headset and it all just feels so meh...

@Footix: For Mercenaries, Gamespot.com mentions some bad aliasing issues on the PS3, did you run into any of that? I think it depends on the type of game as well; Soul Calibur IV has an unwanted shaky/jittery screen glitch throughout the menus and during gameplay on the PS3 version, plus some mild framerate hiccups that requires frame-counters (aka insane fighting game fans) to detect.

My understanding is that while the PS3 remains difficult to program for, developers have been making an effort to make their multiplatform games on par with the 360 version. I recall a John Carmack interview from 1UP.com where he said his game runs and looks as good on the PS3, it's just that it took a lot more time and resources to pull off. Not a lot of developers have that luxury, and it only poses barriers to entry for new devs.

Well I own both consoles too and one thing that you notice quite fast is that your friends who also own both always get their games for 360 because of XBL.

It's a catch-22 for PS3. so-so online means every game I plan to play online I will get for 360 unless it's exclusive.

It may be free but believe me, that's what it's worth. the worst part? the updates.

I got caught up in the hype of the PS3 as well. I figured the PS3 was going to be like the PS3 in terms of sheer volume of games and the lead RPG platform, however it seems like every new game announced that makes me go "Ooo, I want that" is only on the Xbox 360, the one system I don't yet have.
And it's annoying me, because all I'm getting from Sony is "We promise fun is coming soon, just hang on another year."
