It would be wise to release it pre-release seeing how hype for Left 4 Dead is not as high as other games. Say hmm...another game releasing that same month... Oh right Gears of War 2, it's not like anyone wants to play that.... Seriously though, games like The Force Unleashed and Fallout 3 are overshadowing it. I hope it doesn't end up like Halo 3.

@lumpi: I had a demo of Half-Life 2 when I bought the Multiplayer Pack (i.e. CS, DOD, and HL2:MP). They do that sometimes. Although, that was like 2 years ago.

I would think the PC demo would come out before the games release, I mean.. post release Valve will likely do free weekends over steam. No real point in having a demo out when people can just wait to play the full game for free for a weekend

As for content, Newell told VideoGamer, "I don't know what the date is for release [of the demo] though. I think it's going to contain the first part of one of the campaigns. I think it'll probably be Hospital but I'm not sure."

He doesn't seem to know much. There could even be a PS3 version of the game and he wouldn't know anything about it cause he's too busy stuffing his face.

Anyways left 4 dead looks horrible. I will pass on this game (like most of Valve's shitty games).

This game is absolutely top of my list of games I'm looking forward to. If it delivers co-op zombie slaughter half as solid as the vids seem to indicate, it'll basically be my dream game.

I cannot wait to play this, almost 2 and a half yrs I have been watching this game produce.

However, it's been easier with other distraction such as Zombie Panic Source.

It's a Hl2 multiplayer modification with humans vs zombie action. You'll laugh, you'll scream, you'll cry, you may even be able to eat a brain or too or blast a zombie point blank with a magnum.

This totally made my day. I keep finding myself watching the YouTube videos of L4D gameplay over and over again.

@Detre: Yes, there is a mode where 4 players play the boss zombies and another 4 play the survivors. The way it works from how I understand it, the server holds 12 players; 4 survivors, 4 zombies, and 4 spectators who play after one team loses. Since the game is apparently pretty tought, even on normal, those 4 spectators won't have to wait too long. Though even then I share your concern about people actually wanting to put up servers.

You can run your own server off your PC, just like you can with any valve game. I imagine that will probably be your best bet if you want to play coop.

Well, I played it a year ago at QuakeCon 2007 and thought it was rockin' the bee's knees then (Left 4 Dead t-shirt is one of my prized possesions). I'll accept "when it's done" anyday from Valve for a better version of what I played.

I would beg to differ.

I played the game at PAX and it was, by far, the hardest game to get to. The line was a constant. Everywhere around the expo, people were talking about Left 4 Dead (and no, that's not an exaggeration).

I think this game has a LOT of hype surrounding it for a few reasons:

1) It's a Valve game. Lots o' people think Valve are one of the greatest development houses of ever. Plus, Valve games have a certain level of quality to them that never seems to dip ...they're almost always good if not great.

2) All the horror gamers are excited for this. I think the millions of Resident Evil fans (who are damn excited for RE5) are ready for another take on the Zombie-phenomonon.

3) All the FPS gamers are looking forward to this as it's a new take on the genre, in a couple of different ways. The closest thing this resembles is another Valve game, TF2. It's all about team work.

4) The people who shy away from online gaming because it's almost all deathmatch. Quite a few Halo players i've talked to during game are excited for something that's a bit more intimate, forced co-op and exciting.

I think Left 4 Dead and Fallout 3 are probably two of the most anticipated games by a majority of gamers that like those genres this year. On top of that, Left 4 Dead has been in every gaming magazine numerous times for the past 4 - 5 months.

As it comes to the demo, playing it at PAX was awesome but I just can't wait to see this game on my big screen HDTV. It's gonna be beautiful. *swoon*.
