See Ted Nugent Rock Out In Guitar Hero World Tour
Posted by Adam Barenblat at 8:00 AM on September 12, 2008
About 2 hours ago Crecente told you that the Ted Nugent was going to lend his voice, likeness, and guitar style to Guitar Hero World Tour. Now you get to see it for yourself. It'll be interesting to see his signature show entrance - riding a live buffalo onto the stage.

All the fluffy crap GH is going for is turning me off even more to the game. Having virtual rock stars in the game doesn't make me any more interested in playing it. I'll take Rock Band 2.

This is why I am getting Rock Band 2 instead.
It's less gimmicky.
I am a BIG pumpkins fan and Billy Corgan is awesome but... Rock Band 2 FTW IMO OK? BRB PDQ

I may get blasted for saying this but I really hate that guy. The fact that he's in this game almost makes me want to play it less.

Sweaty Teddy! I'm totally getting both game discs, and probably trading up for the new GH4 drums in order to obtain the realest fake musical instruments possible.
Random observation, but in our grandparents, people getting together for social singalongs was quite the thing to do (google some guy named Mitch Miller). Here it is, the group musical thing has come back full circle, though admittedly much more awesomely.

Hopefully he is exclusive to GH. Don't need this arrogant doofus messing up Rock Band.

You know what? The Nuge has changed my view of all these rock stars being mo-capped for GH-WT. I may get it now just so I can play as him.

@futurebiblehero: Agreed.
Question: When he was done riding on stage on the buffalo, did he shoot it through the heart with one of his many crossbows?

@taidan19: Actually, I think most people would perceive them as having no clue. The presentation and polish of Rock Band was way, way, way (like lightyears) ahead of Guitar Hero 3, and throwing money at famous artists likeness appear in GH:WT is not a step in the right direction.
And for the love of god, please don't tell me these artists are showing up for "boss battles".

Don't really care about the rock stars appearing in this game, for me, it's all about the music editor.

@VladMalice: The fluffy crap shows that Activision has a clue about how to improve these games and make them more musically interesting than RB's insistance on hitting the notes and watching things go. This is just icing on the cake to go along with some genuine improvements. Of course you wouldn't know because no everyone has it out for World Tour before even playing it.

As someone who's fiercely liberal and doesn't agree with just about anything that comes out of his mouth, I still have to say it: Ted Nugent is fucking awesome. Really. If every republican were half as awesome as Ted Nugent, I'd stop having abortions, burn all of my Morrissey albums and just rock.

After going back and playing Guitar Hero 3 again, I like the game more than Rock Band, and this is coming from someone who's purchased over 80 DLC songs. I only played Rock Band for the drums. The guitar parts were so boring for me and slow. At least with GH I could turn on hyperspeed and the notes felt right. I've come to the realization that I enjoy the GH franchise more.

They had GH-WT on my campus today, so I checked it out and played the drums (the only part that I really care about) and I gotta say, they felt really good. The orange pad/cymbal got in the way on occasion, and was annoying, and I hope you adjust it so when you hit the green pad you're not accidentally hitting the bottom of the orange too, but other than that I was well satisfied. But I also went to a Bar that had Rock Band 2 up, and I played the drums there, overall, the only difference is the layout. The pads are almost identical, so for being a Rockband player, I will probably stick to Rockband instead, but the drums were fun enough for me to actually consider buying GH-WT with the drums as well.

@taidan19: You do realize that GH and RB's concept is all about watching notes whiz past on a chart right?
I can't remember the last time I spent any amount of time watching the background animations. Something about being too busy PLAYING THE GAME.
And frankly, I don't care who they put in the game. RB let's me play as whoever I want (regardless of if they actually exist or not)
It would be REALLY cool if GH spent some time promoting the actual SETLIST (you know, like how HMX came out with the entire setlist officially at once)
So far every setlist I've seen is still a compilation of prses releases and rumors.

@godlyzombie:Who kills each and every meal he eats with little more then a Bowie Knife and bow and arrows.
I never understood all the Nugent hate. Unlike so many of his fellow rock stars from that age, he didn't end up washed up, burned out, dead or broke. He's just vocal as all hell, but hell at least i'm not watching "Life with Ted" on A&E, now am I? (No disrepect to Gene)

So Guitar Hero has create a character mode which is more in depth then RB's, and famous rockers, I never realized that more content was a bad thing, plus if you "don't care about who's on the stage rocking" then it shouldn't matter if you create a character or not, in all honestly choosing a premade guy would be easier, less time playing with sliders and more time rocking out.

@Foxstar Sixtail: Well, I know I greatly dislike Nugent due to his ultra right-wing attitude and need to be vocal about it.
I honestly like some of Nugent's music, but the attitudes and beliefs he espouses are just so offensive it's hard to like him. I mean "We should have gone Nagasaki on Iraq"? I don't think even most Republicans support that sort of hardcore conservatism.
By the way, he had his own Reality TV show, "Surviving Nugent".

I wonder how great it would be to be in a rock band with your Dad. I'm sure that father son sit down to talk about groupies would be a real bonding moment.

The more I see on GH4, the more I realize it's full of gimmicks and stupid crap. Guitar Hero is dying on the vine. Rockband 2 is where the genre should be headed. It's a platform. Guitar Hero seems interested in one offs and gimmicks. Rockband seems interested in rocking the f*** out.

I don't know why, but every time one of these videos gets posted I'm reminded of Pixar vs. every other animation studio. Studios that aren't Pixar tend to promote by saying, "LOOK AT ALL THE FUCKING CELEBRITIES WE HAVE IN OUR MOVIE! ISN'T IT GREAT? DON'T YOU WANT TO WATCH A MOVIE WITH ALL THESE CELEBRITIES IN IT?!" Meanwhile, Pixar says, "Hey, we're just trying to tell a good story. Do we have celebrity voices? Yes, but story and atmosphere come first."
Take a guess at which one is Guitar Hero in this analogy.

Ted Nugent is like a cross between Kid Rock and Chad Kroeger. He's the world champion of doucheness.
Also, there are no buffaloes in North America, only bison.
