New Skate It Trailer
Posted by Stuart Houghton at 10:40 AM on September 13, 2008
This trailer for the Wii version of Skate It shows off some of the exotic locations where It may be Skated. You got your London (red phone boxes - you don't find THOSE anywhere else), Paris (or Blackpool — hard to tell at this resolution), Barcelona (no Gaudi grinding, sadly), Rio (sand) and Shanghai (chinese-looking benches).
The Wii version will let you use the balance board in conjunction with your Wii-mote - place your bets now for the first person to sue when they break it trying to do an Ollie.

Don't the stamps with the locations give things away? No? Ooook....

Looks good...but my bets are on when someone breaks themselves trying to do an ollie.
Wonder if it's going to be like Wii Fit where it scolds you severely for jumping while on the board.

@kosikutioner:
I think thats more in reference to how stereotypical the locations look.

Looks very nice, but I'll need a bit more convincing before I make a purchase.
I do have to say that with the notable exception of Tony Hawk's underground 2, most skateboarding games have been more or less the same (to me). They've been going downhill (puns away!) since the Skate or Die pool jam, and shooting a poodle-weilding lady in the face with a paintball gun in SOD:2.

Part of the original's charm (besides the embarassingly-bad skater lingo) was the fact that an entire decently-sized town was available to you. Having many different locations will reduce the size of the levels, making those awesome lines where you covered the whole city a thing of the past.
But, hey, looks like they still got that for Skate 2, which is good by me, since I rarely buy Wii titles.

why...does this look so....boring? ugh, the skating game genre needs another reboot.

If that's gameplay looks pretty goodto me (y'know, judging by that tiny little screen). I just want to know how big the levels will be. Are they little themed arenas? Huge cities? What? And where are all the people? I know there's a disaster in san velona, but what about the rest of the world?

@DukeOfPwn: Yes, too bad they couldn't bring the "one big city" idea to the Wii...

I got to play this at PAX and I gotta say, the balance board controls are so refreshing after hearing everybody talk about how "realistic" it was to be "flicking sticks like on a real skateboard". I can't imagine why the realism people would ever go back to stick flicking after this; even if the graphics are downgraded and the cities are smaller, it's a much richer experience. Not that the balance board is anything like a skateboard; but it feels a lot more appropriate for what the game is trying to achieve.

That looks . . . that looks pretty OK actually. I'd give it a try at any rate.
I've also been looking into picking up WiiFit at some point in the very near future, so it would work out well.

Skate it. Own it. Make it yours.
Fuck yeah! This is the realistic skating experience we have all been waiting for!
I can't wait to "skate it" (marking my territory by skating all over it), "own it" by defending my clearly-effing-marked territory from other alpha skater males through either negotiation (ONE-ON-ONE SKATE OFF BITCHES!) or single combat (ONE-ON-ONE SKATE OFF WITH CROWBARS BITCHES!)!! Then, I shall "make it mine" by skating all over it!
Guaranteed Spore killer WILL ROCK your hizzowz!

yeah, the graphics look a bit crap imo - or maybe just stylised. OK I'm looking at the london one, but those red phone boxes don't look like real red phone boxes, and where is it supposed to be in london?
Still interested in the game though...

Add some chavs, grey sky and some rain. Only then will it be London.
