I'm having trouble seeing how this could be anything other than a mediocre FPS. Castle has no powers and just uses a lot of guns, which kinda sounds like a recipe for another brown-colored cookie-cutter game. I won't be excited until this has something to let me know that it's different from everything else.

@riffleraffle: Yeah any Ennis version would get censored to death. Matt Fraction's War Journal though would have Marvel U villains, be funny and violent at the same time.

The Punisher game despite having to be neutered by the ESRB, was at 1/10th of the violence level of the MAX Ennis comic books. Seriously, read them, love them.

Yes Please. The last game was one of my most recommended titles when I worked at Lamestop. It was very overlooked for what was essentially Max Payne on Grindhouse steroids.

As long as it's not in any way related to the pile of garbage Punisher movie that's about to come out then yeah... but more then likely it's a movie tie in and not a good, free standing, Matt Fraction War Report based FPS. If it is though I'm all over it.

Before (and even after) it got neutered, the last Punisher game was pretty damn good. I love the part where Castle comes out of the coffin guns blazing and wastes an entire funeral parlor of mobsters.

I loved the first Punisher game. It was pretty dire at points but overall it was really good fun. Nothing beats popping out of a coffin, M60 in hand, and mowing down people. It was just hilarious all the way.

I always felt that the Punisher franchise could have done a lot better. It has a lot of potential in it's story-telling and the comics seemed to show some of that potential. I mean a gun bearing vigilante doesn't seem that hard to portray. But in reality, due to his character it does seem a bit challenging. I actually liked the first movie a lot. It could have used less cheese though. Yeah, yeah 2004. We need something, weather it be a movie or videogame, that shows more gridiness. Sorry to say but the new movie looks like crap. I really hope this game doesn't become crap once details are released.

So-so? Most critics gave it 8's. Aside from the censoring, it was a very good game, by far the best Marvel game I've played.

This is funny too because I was just talking to my friend about how they should make another Punisher game, around two days ago. Gory kills, similar to the last one and I'm all in.

The Punisher game was actually pretty great for fans - mindless Max Payne-style shootin;, but with a great script from Ennis. Even Thomas Jane made up for his horrible performance in the movie with some solid voice acting.

A new game would be great. Imagine.... Punisher wannabes (including Mr. Payback, The Holy, and the Elite!), the Man of Stone, Barracuda.... some of those scenes from the MAX series would make a great game. Just think how intense a shootout in the middle of a Russian missile silo would be.

You know what's funny is that in that Warhammer 40k action game video footage posted the other day reminded me of the game engine used in the Punisher game. It had the up close executions and everything. Go look at it again. They were both made by THQ right? Wonder if they have the same people on it.

No one has the balls to make a true Punisher game.

If they did, the game would make the violence in GTA4 look like a badly censored german WW2 game full of Nazi's and guts. Or Adventures of Lolo 2.

@stupid_mcgee: Oh the NES shooter gets plenty of love from me! My cousin and I spent countless hours playing that game. I think it was when you died that you could just shoot the brick wall over and over again, and spell things out with the bullets. Naturally we'd always write the inappropriate things, but what can you expect when you're 8 years old? Hell, we still write the inappropriate stuff when we can :)

@ObZen: Yeah I got it right on my second comment. War Journal is hilarious and Fraction is one of the better writers in the biz. Punisher belongs in the Marvel U. not just out in the world being a random psycho.
