The Vehicles of Lego Batman!
Posted by Adam Barenblat at 10:00 AM on September 16, 2008
The Batpod won't be the only ride you'll be slaughtering Gotham's worst in. Behold the completely kick arse rides of Lego Batman! What could possibly be better than chomping down on enemies with a 15 foot alligator?

It would be cool if they had every version of the batmobile actually.

Joker's copter looks awesome, but I wish they had gone with the newer, "Tumbler" look for the Batmobile, and not this one, which looks like it's been inspired by the Batmobiles in the campy Joel Schumacher movies.
Well, whatever. It's a Lego game.

My kids got Lego Batman toys in their McD happy meals over the weekend, and they had a special code for an unlockable *something* in the game.
It's DDP-967 if you're interested.
As far as the game goes, I've got this pegged as better than Indy but not as good as Lego Star Wars. We'll see pretty soon I guess.

@peAr nectAr: Bite your tongue! This Batmobile looks far more like the late '40s/early '50s model (with fins and a giant bat-head hood ornament) crossed with the one from the first Burton film than it does a vehicle from the Schumacher films.

Holy crap. It's like a completely demented Lego Island. This could be awesome.

Why are the graphics so blocky? Please up the polygon count.
This games graphics have a ways to go to match Gears of War 2.

WOW!
There's even a little Lego wheelchair for Batgirl!

Oooh, brown dirtbikes and green fedoras! Oh wait, were we supposed to be impressed by the brickbuilt vehicles? Sorry, the only Batvehicles they've released that I actually like is the Batskiboat from the Batcave set, and last year's Batcopter. Everything else tops out at "kinda sucks". Yes, including the Tumbler. It's freaking 18 studs wide! It could be a house for how big it is.
@peAr nectAr:
I always figured it was more inspired by the Burtonmobile (especially given that it came with the Burton Batman), but I guess I'm not familiar enough with the Schumachermobiles. Also, it looks like they changed the design from the actual LEGO set, so it does look a touch less Burtonesque. Hmm, maybe you're right.
@Weirdwolf:
I see no LEGO wheelchair. Unless by "wheel" you mean "legs" and by "chair" you mean "giant sewer gator". But I would kinda like to see that Police helicopter released as an actual set.
@NintendoFanBoy64:
Why are the graphics all done in shades of brown, green, and grey? Please up the color pallete. GoW2's graphics have a ways to go to match this game's.

@Purple Dave: Clearly you have not heard of what the underground looks like in Gears 2.
All of the evil creatures that live down there paint EVERYTHING in a rainbow color! They also have many simulated lens flare/god rays machines to see!
Trust me, Gears 2 above ground is as bland as you say.
Down below, it's a freaking PAR-TAY!

I knew what you were referring to, but I thought you were saying you'd actually spotted a LEGO wheelchair in one of the pics. And I was kinda hoping to see what it looked like so's to possibly rip off the design.

What?! No Hammercycle?! No Hamjet??! The exclusion of Captain Hammer from this game is a mockery of a sham, and I shall have no truck with it! Good day to you Lego Batman.
...
I SAID GOOD DAY!

Until Captain Hammer is sold to DC _and_ becomes a part of the Batman supporting cast, no dice.
