Wii Fit Hits Prime Time
Posted by Brian Crecente at 3:00 AM on September 16, 2008
Highlights of a Wii Fit Family Challenge will be airing on Nick at Night next month, Nintendo announced today.
Hosted by Olympic skating champion Kristi Yamaguchi, the challenge had three families competing in a series of aerobic, yoga, strength training and balance activities using the balance board and Wii Fit. Finalists in the challenge all won a Wii, copy of Wii Fit and an expense-paid trip to Orlando for the Sept. 17 taping.
The championship's highlights will be airing throughout the night on Oct. 9 between prime time progreamming on Nick at Night. Proof positive that someone in America is still using their Balance Board.

When I was a wee one I would've loved the opportunity to do something like this - what's essentially a game show on Nickelodeon?
Now, not so much. While perhaps not a portent of doom, but like so many other beloved things from my childhood, it seems at least slightly pathetic.

@robinandtami: That was a reference to a famous dystopia short story, where, in order to make us equal, decide to make us dumb, ugly and nonathletic by numerous handicaps, including but not limited to annoying beeps, lead weights, mask, and even lobotomy. What he means is that this show is stupid, but is forced to accept because "it's mainstream".

Ugh! This would be something to watch in a cyberpunk future, where we would be forced to sit on our sofas with nothing but handicaps and radio signals in our heads, preventing us to even think about changing the channel.
God, this world is going down the shitter.

The Wii needs a step dance game with balance board support. Think of the adds!

@Atachi: Well, it will... when Jack Thompson actually have power to decide what games are appropriate and what is not.

Thanks for posting this Kotaku. I now know the exact time to avoid Nickelodeon at all costs.

They should bring back that slime show. I don't remember what it was called but they should definitely bring it back.
