Harmonix Crew Appearing On Colbert Report Tonight
Posted by Stuart Houghton at 10:40 AM on September 18, 2008
Stephen Colbert will be playing host to some chaps from Harmonix as they give him a Rock Band 2 rendition of his song Charlene (I'm Right Behind You).
Eighties stalker anthem Charlene recently appeared as free Rock Band DLC.
The show will broadcast tonight (Wednesday 17th September) at 11:30 PM EST on Comedy Central.
You can check out a video of Stephen performing Charlene, in the actual nineteen eighties. It in no way resembles David Brent's Free Love On The Free Love Freeway, at least not in any way that is actionable in court.

I was wondering when Colbert was going to mention his Rock Band song. I'm also surprised he hasn't covered Palin's hatred of (polar) bears yet.

But I don't have Rock Band 1 either, unfortunately.

And please can we get some Flight of the Conchords up in this piece!
Another 15 Tenacious D songs would be nice too!

The song Gervais did on the Simpsons would be great as well.
"Lady when you go away, I feel like I could die,
Not like dye like your hair is dyed, but die like Lady Di,
And not like Di like her name is Di, but die liked when she died.
Lady just like Lady Di, be my princess tonight, but don't die."

@Red_Maniac: It's free DLC for Rock Band 1, which I assume means it's also free DLC for Rock Band 2 as well.

I'd love to have 'Free Love On The Free Love Freeway' or 'Spaceman'.

I second the notion for David Brent songs in Rock Band. In fact, I would pay whatever the cost to play Free Love, make the proceeds go to charity!

Speaking of 'Free Love On The Free Love Freeway' why the hell hasn't that been put into Rock Band yet? That song is brilliant.

@ca$h: What shame is there in promoting your own stuff, even if you're referring to the pic (photoshop or real?) particularly when Activision's move (incompatible controllers and threatening lawsuit against Sony if they released a patch that would make the controllers compatible) was the wrong one to begin with?

@BlueWizard422: What? Colbert's not live? NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
But how can The Daily Show do their talk with Colbert before his show? Anyway, I was disappointed that it was pretty much another ad for Rock Band, but Colbert was still funny, as he always is. I would've LOVED for the Harmonix people to battle Stephen & The Colberts in "their" song! I guess we'll have to keep dreaming!

Harmonix wasn't there. But it was still effective to see the Rock Band 2 game cover, and a slight glimpse of the Colbert music video. Both XBOX marketplace and the Playstation Network got free publicity, so that wasn't a bad thing at all.

I would happily punch Ricky Gervais in his stupid grinning sell-out face, but I have to say that the full band version of Free Love Freeway (featuring Noel "Laser Goblin" Gallagher on guitar and backing vocals) would go down a storm in our household.
