The Chronicles Of Spellborn Finally Gets A Release Date
Posted by Mike Fahey at 1:40 AM on September 20, 2008
It's about damn time. The decidedly different MMO Chronicles of Spellborn, which I had to fly to Germany to finally get my hands on, finally has a release date...in Germany and the rest of Europe at least. Delivered with this preliminary packshot was news that November 27th would be the fateful date when the game finally sees the light of fluorescent retail store bulbs. They'll be ramping up things on the beta front over the coming weeks, so now would be a pretty good time to hit up the web page and register, just in case you care to get a taste.
Great! Now when are we getting it in the states? I'm not flying to Germany again until I finish digesting all the sausage I ate last time, and that was a total sausagefest that will rest heavily on my stomach for quite some time.

This game has come a long way from the original grey mushroom-land sandbox.

@Laho:
Actually... i hear there is a F2P aspect where non-subscribers get to play in a specific zone. Can't remember if thats US or EU though as Acclaim picked it up in the US and their business model is F2P mmos.

DAMN, this game was really interesting... but it comes out 1 week after WotlK, and I'm already playing WAR.
Hopefully they have some sort of a free demo or open beta, because between those two already great MMOs, I'm not going to sigh up for a 3rd one unless I can give it a try and it's real fun.

that was a total sausagefest that will rest heavily on my stomach for quite some time.
I once made a comment about needing a banana-hammock to keep my fruit from getting soft.
They laughed at me.

@Jusoon:
I agree, this has failure written all over it

Releasing so soon after WoW's expansion goes live might not be the best move for a game with so little exposure. I hope thing work out for them.

I think I'll check this out. WAR is not so different and I'm tired of WOW. I've been following Spellborn for a good 2 years now. The environment looks awesome too.

This game looks kinda interesting, but alas it's a PC game. I'm not ready to step into that territory just yet.

Does anyone else think that the lighting on the cover art of this game is insane? How is it that a silhouette can still show off such mad booty-booty buttcheeks like that?
Seriously, it's fucking ridiculous.

The beta has been around forever, but basically nothing has happened for a good 6 months now.
"Ramping up" beta hopefully means more then that they actually start using the beta again, combined with some pretty generous handout of beta keys. They will need the exposure.
