guess i'm kinda lucky that i just sent my 360 to the repair center after it RRoD'd last thursday then... at least this will give me a chance to finally finish Uncharted on the PS3... though i do crave Rock Band 2, though... and i had just picked up the new wireless drum set last tuesday! oh well. Iron Man next tuesday on Blu Ray, so that's another good thing worth waiting for...

The Terms of Use we all had to accept when signing in even mentioned "we may cancel or suspend your service at any time" so if they wanted, they could do far worse than just take the service down for a brief maintenance period and it would be OK since we all agreed that it would be OK.

If that is a genuine concern, read all the terms instead of just checking that innocent little "I agree" checkbox. That applies to each and every terms you encounter, not just Live.

And complaining about the service being down for ONE day for maintenence and getting a weeks warning is pretty weak. How do you know you'll be AVAILABLE to play your Xbox that day? Seems you wouldn't be since you're a silver member, so it doesn't even apply to you anyway.

You're not really given a choice. If you don't download the new system updates you're logged out of Xbox Live and can't play online and can't chat with friends. I suppose you could spend a few days OFF the system entirely while others do some beta testing for you, but then you'd have to do things like associate with other humans without wearing a headset. That would suck.

I am glad they are upgrading service. Adding more capacity etc might fix lag issues and Disconnection issues. With avatars added soon the bandwidth will need to be upgraded on their end for sure.
