New (Small) Chrono Trigger DS Screens
Posted by Brian Ashcraft at 2:00 PM on September 25, 2008
The newest issue of magazine Shonen Jump has a few new scans of the DS Chrono Trigger, one of which features wireless "Monster Battles" with monsters that you've raised. The game was originally released for the SNES, and the DS version will feature new content and be the first time it has been released in PAL territories.

Finally, this game for PAL territories. And to think, we only had to wait a mere 13 years.

Yeah, I'm ridic excited for this. My DS has been starving for a good RPG as of late.

Yet another game where the phrase "creatively bankrupt" applies very well.
I love Chrono Trigger, but, just like Kirby Super Star Ultra, I want a new game, not the same old game.

@yuutokun: playable Schala would be a nice idea. maybe she would have magic better than Magus? Naw...he's the man.

RPG players! you MUST play this game. Forget FF7, (even though it is really great) This is the game that set the standard.

Where is my Chrono Break?!
Give it to Level 5 with Toriyama doing the designs.
Oh, the agony of not playing a sequel to my favorite game series of all time, Chrono Trigger/Cross.
Cross was the best RPG...actually, best game I have ever played. The first time where it felt it was MY adventure...especially with all of the numerous characters you could take if you wanted.
A game that was non-linear before non-linear was used in this business.

Goddamit, I'm still killing to see a picture of the second screen, not a bunch of screen I already saw on the SNES version.

As much as I love CT, I can't really get too excited over this, haha. Absolutely nothing new.
I do plan to get it in Japanese, though. A JPN language version of the game I know like the back of my hand should help me brush up on my language skills.

Where's the playable Schala? I`d buy it just for that. It would be cool if they incorperated those lost traks off the ost as well.

I would buy this game 10 times over if they keep putting new features into it. My fav game ever.

Please. Do this game justice and play it on a screen thats bigger than 2 inches. Easily one of the most beautiful and soulful games on the SNES.

ds is trying to overthrow the psp as the handheld of ports. hard to get excited about something i've already played. ad least give it a new paint job like the FF remakes for the ds.

Boy, do I love Chrono Trigger. Boy, am I sick of rereleases.
At least give it a graphical overhaul or something. The game is over 13 years old for heaven's sake!

Dunno if I'll get, since I'm not much into playing the same game twice... even if it's an awesome game such as CT.
But for those who didn't play it yet, it really is a must get.
Maybe I'll just buy it to show my appreciation to the game, since I was dumb enough to sell my SNES with it a long time ago.

I would totally by this lazy port for $20.
That would very much be worth it.
And I think I will buy it for that much.
If Square is smart enough to offer it at that price, then great...
Otherwise I'll just wait a few months for the price to drop.

I have never gotten to play this game properly. I have a sweet USB Logitech controller and I tried playing the game as a rom, but I have such a hard time dedicating computery time to gaming in that form. I really wish my buddy didn't ruin the ending for me, though. I think I would have shit bricks and cried my eyes out if it was left a surprise.
That said, I can't wait for it, either. It'll be perfect for me in its handheld form. Also, I'm wondering if it will look nicer on a small screen. Thinner-looking pixels and all that.

Lol at all the people being wowed by screen shots.
They could make practically 3d 32bit games on the GBA do you think it's that hard to port a SNES game on the DS?
On the subject though CT definitely favorite game of all time, looking forward to playing this everywhere now.

Wel, this as a stand alone release is worthless. However i'm hoping they are doing a port release because they are working on a sequel and want to warm up the crowd before it's released. Of course, i'd really prefer to see Chrono remake not on Nintendo consoles but on Xbox or ps3.
PS:
FU again Squeenix for shutting down Chrono Resurrection

Screw raising monsters. Gimme the game NOW! :(
Gah, this game was the greatest thing back in the day. I hope all you young'ins will be able to fully enjoy it without it feeling dated and lame. The fact that it's on DS might make that experience somewhat harder to grasp as well. Oh well. Hope everyone enjoys it! I know I will.

@yuutokun:
Playable Schala would not make sense, story line wise. If you've ever played Chrono Cross, her dissapearance is explained.

@TheOriginalEd: not a bad idea. A HD ps3 downloadable with hand drawn animations and watercolored backgrounds would be fantastic. Now I'm kinda peeved they didn't do that.

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for a fresh script. Lucca's got some real howlers in the Japanese version that got censored out.

It turns out the same as the crying game, Crono was a woman the whole time. Also: Kevin Spacey is Keyser Soze, it was Earth all along, Darth Vader is Luke's father.

I'd enjoy, more then anything else, some magical ability to play this on my tv, through my DS, through my Wii. Like reverse remote play, so I can do stuff on my DS, and see it on my TV. Maybe the bottom screen stays in place, and top screen shows up on my TV.
