I actually bought the entire first season of Heroes on the recommendation of a friend, but it was a big disappointment. It has great production values for a TV show, but it felt kind of like too much soulless corporate engineering. The only main characters that I really enjoyed watching were Hiro and the cheerleader's father. The other actors were pretty one-dimensional and uninspired.

The show was a bit too aware of itself, in a bad way. I'm absolutely for interracial relationships, but when the majority of relationships on your show are interracial for no apparent reason other than having a Minoriteam-esque cast it starts feeling kinda hokey.

That and I couldn't get over the frequently contradictory themes of the show. Faith and science are fine themes to put up against each other, but the references to Darwinism in particular were kind of stupid. You don't talk about Darwinism leading toward something like it has an intention. You don't talk about it and Fate in the same breath. Evolution, fine, maybe that could conceivably be guided by some mysterious force, but Darwinism in particular is pretty specifically an unguided process. That kind of stuff just came across as poorly thought out, especially in comparison to the fascinating contrast of faith and science that LOST had going between Jack and Locke a few seasons back.

That's my two cents, anyway. Wait, what? Rabbits?

It's like they're replacing one mediocre franchise with another franchise made entirely of party games.

Ah, Heroes. Along with Dexter, it's easily one of my favorites.

It's also the show that taught me this: If you ever decide that you like a show, NEVER say so on the internet. Thousands of people will rush to explain, in painstakingly misspelled detail, why you are probably mentally disabled for enjoying said show. Nothing in this world is more important to these people than making sure that you watch what THEY like, and nothing else.

Note that these very people watch the show religiously, so that they can bash it later.

The first season is really pretty great.. albeit with some cheese on top.

I've been a comic reader for.. gosh 15 years now... and I was very skeptical when I heard about it before the first season, but gave it a try and came to like it quite a bit. Some story lines are weaker than others (*cough* niki *cough*), and it definitely follows in the footsteps of many comics, but it does a good job of synthesizing a lot of those into something a lil different... especially when it comes to the "why" questions of where their power comes from, etc.

Anyway, for those of you who only saw last season or gave up on it at that point, it is already more interesting this season after just the premiere... much faster pace, they brought back some of the "whys" of it with some characters wondering about god, etc. It's pretty cool, give it a chance.

As for Raving Rabbids - delicious spoof!

But what I did notice, and this could possibly a spoiler, so I will be as vague as possible...

is that it seems that some characters were the first to be handed raw deals, while others went through continuous revivals and second chances...
That's probably still really vague, but I don't want to ruin anything... nor get dis-emvoweled.

Oh well, you might be interested in this season tho, Toasticus... it's pretty good so far.. a lil off the wall for one character, but pretty good.
Last season was slow in many places, including Hiro and Claire unfortunately... but Matt's storyline, as well as any scenes with Angela Petrelli or Mr. Bennet (the cheerleader's father) are gold..

Either way, it is TV and I guess you have to take it with a grain of salt and not expect them to get everything right (such as your problem with Darwinism)... but I think they used up a lot of their ability to expect things from their audience by using subtitles so much, which I'm proud of them for doing.
