Grand Theft Auto IV Live Weekend Kicks Off Today

It's Rockstar Games' first Grand Theft Auto IV Live Weekend on Xbox Live, and everybody's invited! You know the basics by now...anyone who signs up and participates in an online GTA IV match between now and Sunday evening has a chance to win hourly prizes consisting of GTA IV swag like shirts, hats, hoodies, licence plates, and more, with a grand prize of an Xbox 360 Elite console and even more swag up for grabs. Rockstar is doing their part as well, with anyone checking stats or joining the Rockstar Games Social Club over the weekend will be entered in a sweepstakes to win a home entertainment package valued at more than $6000 or a runner- prize of a custom GTA IV branded 360 and even more swag.
Things are kicking off today from 3:00PM to 9:00PM Eastern with a whole slew of GTA IV devs online to play against fans of the game. Hit the jump for a list of Rockstar gamertags to add to your friends list.

Can someone explain the bit about adding them to my friends list? Am I not entered if I just play online? It seems restrictive if I have to add 40 people to my friends list.
/I haven't played online yet anyway. I'm just wonddering what the deal is.

Wait, if I log on to Live with MY XBOX360 and play a match I can win another Xbox 360? The one that doesn't come with the transfer cable. Some grand prize.

I went on Live last weekend thinking that was when they were running the GTA contest. Almost nobody was playing anything but Team Deathmatch and Deathmatch. Kinda disappointing.

@MJ2k: I imagine if you want to play against a dev, all you'd have to do is load up their profile and select "join game" without actually adding them to your list. I was kinda hoping one of the Housers would be playing but judging by those names, I'd guess they aren't (unless those names don't represent their actual names).
Also, to be entered in the contest, you only need to play the game online during the 3 days of the contest. You don't actually have to play against devs or anything. You have to either register online or download a certain gamerpic on your 360 in order to be eligible though (the gamerpic is free, by the way).

@dowingba: Yeah I kind of misread. I wasn't actually thinking about the contest, not being from USA or Canada. Getting into a game with some devs is the best I can hope for :`(

I'm seriously dissapointed it's not open to residents of the UK, it was even made in Scotland and yet they don't open it to their home fans.

I played last weekend too and I got the achievement for killing a rockstar developer. Funny thing was as soon as I got the achievement, my 360 hanged so I had to restart. I will still play this weekend to get a shot at those prizes.

Big FYI for anyone who wins microsoft points through this contest.
Use your points immediately when you receive them. I won 2000 points in the rainbow 6: vegas 2 weekend thing, got a letter with the codes for the points which had 4 codes to input for 500 points each. After only a week and a half, the points expired from my account, a half hour talking to microsoft support reveals that these giveaway points only last about 2-3 weeks from when they write the letter to you.

I actually won 3 months of free Live in the contest when the game came out. I also got the achievement for killing a developer last weekend. I had never played online in GTA4 before and the players are worse with the crap talk than playing Halo3. Uggghhh, I have to log in again for that?

lol for the Rockstar social club sign-in contest: "Determination of Winners...If a Canadian resident is selected as a potential winner, s/he will also be required to correctly answer a time-limited mathematical question in order to win the prize."
