Steam Cuts Rockstar In Half This Weekend
Posted by Michael McWhertor at 7:40 AM on September 27, 2008
Need something to play this weekend? Need it on the cheap? If you're on board with this whole digital distribution through Steam thing, some classic and not-so-classic Rockstar Games titles are being sold at bargain basement prices. Ten bucks for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas? Five for Manhunt? You could do a hell of a lot worse. The entire Rockstar Games Collection is just $29.99 in U.S. dollars, making corruption by video game violence a steal.
The whole thing is time limited and may very well not be offered in the country of your choosing. For the lucky bargain hunters, have at it.

@Brad:
What adapter? It uses a USB. The only thing you would need is a program the converts button pushes to keyboard commands.
here is the best one I know of. The only thing that's confusing about the website is that the download link is on the left hand side, it looks like the avatar.
Happy Turf Wars!!

That would be great, except...that I just can't get interested in the GTA series. I've played a little GTA 3, tried Vice City, played a little San Andreas at a friend's house... They're just...boring.
But nice price.
Yeah, I'm just going to get back to (re)playing Fallout 1 this weekend...

@Cabal17: Just realized that but Steam doesn't indicate it at all until you try to actually just get the individual game. Why bother having it listed if you can't get it by itself? Silly Steam, Silly Valve.

@DaveKap: Those games are only available in the bundles so its showing the bundle price.

Wow. Why the hell are GTA 1 and 2 both the second-most-expensive thing in that collection (at 14.99 WITH discount) when you can get both of them free from [www.rockstargames.com]
Oh now that I look at it, the most expensive game (Wild Metal at 29.99 down from 59.99 WTF) is also available free at rockstargames.com. What the hell is going on here?!

Damn it! I haaad to buy the GTA collection, which was pretty much the same price. That's what I hate about steam. You buy something and then out of nowhere it gets a huge price cut after you do. CRAP.

DAMN! I've been looking for cheap games considering I'm about to make a killer desktop. This is just.... amazing...
I LOVE STEAM! Just sign in and BAM! Everything starts downloading. Don't have to worry about finding your discs, putting in codes, nope, just sign in and you're done. They had Stubbs last week for $5, picked it up more of less just for the hell of it.

So I check Steam Australia, not only find that the Rockstar deal isn't on, but that there is NO weekend deal. I then find that the Grand Theft Auto series isn't even available to purchase at all.
What. The. Fuck.
So pissed.

DO NOT BUY the game manhunt if you have VISTA. The game will not run. Many people are making a fuss at the steam forums. Some one created a hex edit that is working for some.

For 30.00 you can't go wrong. I will be playing the GTA series through again, and Max Payne 2 sealed the deal since I never got around to buying/beating it on the xbox.
