Mega Man Hat Keeps Head Warm, Awesome
Posted by Owen Good at 8:00 AM on September 28, 2008
This guy has a really, really awesome wife. Not only did she knit him a cozy toboggan for the winter, she even accommodated his request to make it into a Mega Man helmet cap. It took two years of begging for her to finally relent. The post is from last year, and it's not for sale, but I'm sure this lucky dude (who looks like Gordon Freeman) is both enjoying his Mega Man 9 and looking forward to breaking this out once the chill hits.

@Aflack: Likes slushies: I'm right with you. I don't understand the undying fanboyism attached to MegaMan. It was alright, not much more. The only one I liked was the one for the GameBoy.
Where are the NARC fanboys, hmm?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think a toboggan is a sled. A big one, curved front end. All of my upbringing and childhood sledding memories in Northern Michigan says that it is.
And Wikipedia agrees with me.

@xpnet: He probably didn't like the gameplay style. Not everyone does, and you don't need to get past a certain number of Robot Masters to understand that.
For me, Megaman 9 was the first Megaman title I was able to actually like. I've tried almost every single Megaman game in existance, and I've never been able to enjoy any of them. But this game brings something new, I think.

Rise and shine, Megaman. Rise and shine. Not that I wish to imply you have been sleeping on the job. No-one is more deserving of a rest. And all the effort in the world would have gone to waste until... well, let's just say your hour has come again. The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world. So, wake up, Megaman. Wake up and smell the ashes.

@chewychomp:
Wow, infallible logic. Just because someone knits does not mean that they are old. There's a huge movement going on right now with young people using traditional crafts (like knitting, crocheting, embroidery, etc) to create things inspired by popular culture, including video games.
Kotaku posts these crafts from time to time too, which leads me to believe that you are most likely trolling, and even though I recognize that I still feel the need to defend my fellow geeky crafters.

Well.... Mega Man's head is pretty super-deformed, ain't it?
And as cool as this is.... to wear in public? Unacceptable. Sometimes, our own 'individuality' can make us look like special needs, as someone else pointed out.
Still, my inner (inner, not outer) nerd yearns for one of these.
