You Got Another, oh, 39 Hours to Play Xbox Live

Just a reminder that come Monday, Live goes dead for 24 hours. Meantime Microsoft is larding up the weekend with a bunch of Play & Win sweepstakes. We've already mentioned the GTA IV Live Weekend, but there's also a raft of prizes being offered for Madden 09, NCAA 09, and NASCAR 09 -- and, if I'm reading it right -- if you go put some T-Mobile advertisement on your gamer picture and play Lego Batman, you can be entered to win some shit there, too. Then the power outrage strikes at 12:01 AM PDT Monday. This won't deliver the new Xbox Live dashboard, it's just "in preparation" for its arrival.

Everytime Xbox Live goes down for maintenance I am unable to sign back in afterwards for a day or two. Odd I know. Hoping this time will be different.

I would rather them prepare for the update rather than have the servers crash when the update hits. I can survive without live for 24 hours.

Just as a curiosity note An email was sent out to Zune users about that service being down as well on that date im curious if this means with the NXE will bring more zunexbox integration or if its just the IT decided to do all the work on one day. Just a thought no ivestigation as of yet

@caleb154: It's probably due to how the Zune marketplace is tied closely Live. They both use the same point system, so it may not mean anything that the Zune services will be down too.

@Refused: That probably happens cause everyone tries to get back on Live as soon as its back up...so im sure it gets all confused and super slow lol. Thats just my guess of course, luckily i can survive a day without Live (at least i THINK i can)

I'll finish Force Unleashed, and make a bit more progress in Bully. Really need to start polishing these off, but Ive been hooked back on Halo 3 recently.... ;_;

Amazing. I actually like when Xbox Live gets taken down for a day, I don't feel like I'm getting behind everyone else unless I play XBL every single free second I have.

Its like a million of 12-year-olds' voices suddenly cried out in pain and were then silenced. Interesting, such a downtime is too long, servers usually are made to have maintenance/update-time of max 3 minutes.

UGggh, just tried to play Bioshock and got the error message "could not locate DLC" I guess that means Oblivion, Forza, and Crackdown are out for the day as well. STUPID DRM!!! Also that means i cant buy Duke 3d till tuesday...totally uncool.
