That isn't to say it will be a bad game, CoD4 doesn't do much other shooters don't but its still one of my favorite shooters.

One of my regulars did some of the facial animation at his studio in Manchester U.K. He is a huge 360 fan and said that this will tip the balance of which platform can produce better graphics when it comes out.

He went on to say it's not about the high res textures, but the amount of stuff going on in each frame. The whole level seems alive as you play it. Not just a bunch of static buildings with people shooting each other in them. Real time physics on the scenery around you that are moved by the elements. The weather also plays a big part in the single player campaign thanks to the Helghast Lightening guns.

I can't wait for this!

Killzone has been a disappointment ever since they showed the actual real time footage (Low poly triangle head anyone?).

Whatever happened to the nice open battle filed vistas. Everything here is so dark and cramped. Not excited one bit.

And to think I bought a Ps3 solely due to that Killzone E3 video...I thought this was the future...instead it turned out to be a massive fail. Thanks sony.

There's probably a lot more information to be had on KZ2 (withholding that shit propaganda video with the simulated voice chatter) that hopefully gives it more of an identity. I absolutely love what they're doing with the camera. More game need to take advantage of spacial awareness like this. If I had a PS3 I would absolutely pick this up.

Only thing I'm not really sold on is the gameplay. Don't get me wrong, I love the feel of it, but I can't tell why I would want this over Battlefield: Bad Company, CoD4, or Halo 3.

I can't even imagine how this title is a disappointment to you. Its pretty much the most graphically impressive game to be released on a console, and most of the hands on previews are overwhelmingly positive.

The video is of only one level in the multiplayer beta, and its a shitty video at that. I think you are judging it way to harshly based on this video. If you read any of the previews on this I doubt your impressions of it will be "dark and cramp".

I also think it was really stupid of you to buy a console based on one trailer. As excited as I get about games I never forget to use common sense before I shell out a few hundred dollars for a console. I personally can't wait for this game, and having the opportunity to defend this title from trolls like you has made me realize just Want this game.

This is a game on my radar and I hope to see official trailers this upcoming TGS 2008.

Title is misleading; there were 4 minutes at most after loading...and connecting...loading...connecting... At least the respawn was near instantaneous.... So what is it about this game that has people so excited? I can't anything that isn't run-of-the-mill here except good animation when shooting corpses... And it's way too dark!

First there were people complaining that KZ2 was not going to look like the video they showed the first time at a E3. Now that the game looks good there are people here saying that all it has is its looks and no substance.

I don't think we can talk about gameplay before the game comes out and all we have are these bootleg quality videos. The only thing we can get from the images we see in magazines and the internet is the way the game looks, and it looks great and there are people complaining about it.

If the game is good then is worth a purchase, and if it isn't a good game then is not worth the money, but people here think that the decision should be based on whatever they think of what happened with the video shown in 2005, or that this franchise is called Killzone and not Halo or CoD.

I never make a point of defending a game before I have played it. On the PS3 front, before I purchased mine there were people here on Kotaku screaming from the rooftops about Lair and Heavenly Sword being the best thing since sliced bread.

The games weren't failures, but sure as hell were nothing like the opinions....no...strike that, the downright promises of the visuals and gameplay being the best to date from many here well before these games were released. Kind of reminds me of the KZ2 rhetoric. I reeeeeaaaally hope it rocks though, but I won't be buying it for the online campaign.

I just said it earlier, but this is the best looking game I've seen to date on a console. The textures, the details. This just looks so damn incredible. That doesn't mean it'll play great, but it has some serious eye candy for a shooter.

This is next on my list. The attentio to detail in this game is incredible. This is a AAA shooter if ever there were one. I must say that this game has essentially reached next-gen percection.

@SynKade: I got excited over Halo because I was attached to the series. I was never interested in Halo and even hated it after having played it a bit, but for some reason, the PC version converted me. About a week later, the Halo 3 trailer came out, and I was ready to blindly pre-order it. It was also around the time I was looking into a next-gen system, and the PS3 was $600, so I got a 360.

And now that I have a 360 and I have Halo 3, I can't see any reason to spend $400 on another console and a similar FPS. As I said earlier, I'd have trouble choosing between a PS3 and a 360 if I had to buy one today. But I have a 360, I can't afford another system, and that's how it worked out.

Thing is... when a game is coming out that you're not able to play it on your preferred console... you must somehow make yourself feel better by downplaying the game, and in turn you might feel a little less jealous. It goes both ways. Fanboys trash talk a game that isn't even out yet to make them feel better about not being able to play it.

In any case, this game looks amazing as always. The areas have a very real look to them, very spacey. The animations look very fluid and realistic. With positive hands-on impressions and impressions from people with the beta, I see no reason to play it down so early. Let's hope it plays as well as it looks.

Besides the great physicality of it and the graphics, I really have no idea what will make this different than CoD4 or BF:BC. And keep in mind that I never bought CoD4.

Yes, it looks like it'll be a great game, and I would probably get it (or at least rent it) if it was on 360. But I'd need to some justification for plunking down $400 to play it when most of my favorite games are multiplatform anyway.

Hahah, wow. I downloaded WipEout HD yesterday at night and played it all day today. A truly beautiful game. Zone mode is so addictive, especially with the custom soundtracks. One little detail I noticed was that the game adds effects to your song. So, if I jump it gives the track some sort of effect. It's really, really good. For $20 it's hard not to recommend. Not to mention it runs like butter online and off.

All you can judge from that video is that looks nice on a really low quality camera. The particle effects are brilliant the grenade explosion was nice as was the dust/fog drifting through the street. You can't really judge anything else based on that video anyone who goes further than that is a fanboy or a troll.

Agreed. PSN is really shaping up to be a quality service now. I'm digging the cheaper quality games, and WHD is a game that would perfectly fit in a game box in a retail store and no one would complain.

I haven't played online yet, just heard that it ran great on it too. I'm trying to brush up on my skills for a bit see :P So far I like the how the motion controls work for the pitch. It helps when turning a sharp corner. I've been playing Zone Mode and the campaign mode for now. But sure, I'll make sure to add you later when I get on again :)

Read his post, it was pretty self explanatory.

But if you still don't get it, basically he's saying (I believe, prove me wrong if I'm off here PapaBear) that PS3 COD4 fans will already have been graced with a better shooter, Resistance 2, so therefore they won't need to shoot names like "COD4 in space" at Killzone 2 if it doesn't deliver as good an experience, as I already stated, because they will already have a superior shooter to COD4, being Resistance 2.

Where as, Xbox 360 fans will no doubt call it "COD4 in space" as they will not have, by that time, an FPS that surpasses COD4.

This is all irrelevant if Killzone 2 surpasses COD4, which from the footage I've seen so far, looks more than likely, but we all know how these things can go, the only games not to disappoint me this year on consoles are Metal Gear Solid 4 and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

It's very difficult to capture proper audio when all you're doing is pointing a camera at a screen without a direct feed. Whatever audio was on that tape more than likely sounded like shit/nothing, hence the added music.

As for online play, since you haven't tried it yet, all multiplayer games published by Sony, that is they have a gold diamond on the bottom right corner of the box, run off the proper PSN servers and will NEVER LAG. e.g. 40 man resistance matches NEVER LAGGED, Resistance 2 will have 60 players and supposedely NEVER LAGS. But some other games like CoD4 have pretty shit servers.
Its a good thing sony is developing Killzone 2

That's pretty normal in alot of beta's, not all but alot. Seems to be especially true for beta's that let people host their own games. I have no problem with games that let you host your own games as long as there's enough people hosting who actually have a good connection. Alot of times there are idiots who have bad connection trying to host games which sucks. That and hosting your own game makes it impossible to get same skilled players vs each other. But I do love dedicated servers, do the have dedicated servers or official servers of some kind?

COD4 was an amazing game. If killzone 2 looks exactly like it and has near game play charactheristics(played it at a friends house) but with new maps, then why would I buy it? It looks like i'll just rent this instead, Cod4 is way better than this game. Sigh, so much hype for a game that is nearly identical. This is ONLY hyped because this and the other ps3 08-09 exclusives , is what is keeping the ps3 alive. So if this game fails...... then you know what else fails. It sad people are hyping this when killzone 1 was just another ordinary shooter.. BUT now magically killzone 2 is supposely a god-like game. Irony? perhaps.
