Thrustmaster Get Wii Lightsaber Peripherals RIGHT
Posted by Luke Plunkett at 10:20 PM on September 29, 2008
Good old Thrustmaster! They made the baddest PC joysticks back in the 90s, and...well, to be honest that's the last experience I had with the company, since my Top Gun joystick from, oh, 1999 is still going strong. Think it's time to get reacquainted with their wares, though, after seeing their entry into the field of tacky Wii Remote clip-on accessories/peripherals. Where other companies would cut corners, release a shark gun, release a plastic tennis racquet, Thrustmaster have released the "Glo Saber Duo Pack", which while lacking an official Star Wars licence does come with two very official-looking sabers, which light up (they're LEDs) for added faux-authenticity. Only thing they don't do is make a wwhhuummm noise, but if that's what kept the costs down to $35, we can do it ourselves.

No Wii game is ever worth buying, unless that lightsaber is real. Real, as in able to slice through anything and draw/sheath at will.

Why would you buy this?
I mean sure, that's a freaken awesome to have a lightsaber wiimote, but seems to look more annoying to use then anything. What about the batteries, O god the batteries.

They're kind of short. I guess they'd whack the TV screen if they were any longer.
If only this, Soul Calbur IV, and the motionplus could be mixed together.

I'm no Star Wars fan nor do I own a Wii but I think I'm going to have to buy those.

hahaha glow sabers, what a retarded name. Im surprised there was no attempt to get these licensed so they can actually be called Lightsabers on the damn box...ohhh well. As much as i LOOOOOVE Star Wars this just isnt something i'd get....

That's pretty awesome. But if Master Replicas were to make and design peripheral for the Wii, I'd buy that shit up in 1/2 a minute. Authenticity mixed with innovation from the Master Replica team would be an ingenious combination for 3rd party success amongst other accessories.

It looks cool but will it work with the Wii motion plus? You know the thing that would make a Star Wars game the lightsaber simulator and not a waggle-fest. If it isn't compatable then its a poor design choice and won't be worth my cash.

@Gantz: Your Trusted Friend in Science.: The box even looks like it's for a vibrator.
Come to think of it, if the blade is sturdy enough and there's room inside for a motor..

by the looks of it, it probably won't work with motionplus (which seems to be attached snugly to the bottom of the wiimote. So... no go.

Thrustmaster wireless controllers for the wii are the BEST DAMN CONTROLLERS for the system.
Work better than Wavebird, shaped more like ps/xbox style controllers, and work for anygame that gamecube or classic controllers work for, and cost 20 bucks.
but I still don't play the wii...
(kicks nintendo and reminds them that not everyone who loves Nintendo, loves Mario.)
