Fallout 3 DLC Will Be Quests, Not Dog Armour
Posted by Luke Plunkett at 1:40 PM on September 3, 2008
A few years back, Bethesda released a sprawling, open-world RPG on the 360. Then, when it came time to release some DLC for it, they dropped the ball. Released some horse armour, whole thing didn't go down too well. So it's just lovely to see that, when it comes to Fallout 3's DLC, Bethesda will be releasing content that's more in line with their later Oblivion stuff - like Knights of the Nine - than the earlier stuff. Pete Hines:
We want stuff that's going to be several hours. Not just like a one-off thing, but something like where you can download it and play it for X number of hours. It'll be similar to what we did with Knights of the Nine in Oblivion, where it's like whole new quest lines, new stuff, that kind of thing.
Good to hear, good to hear (unless you're a PS3 owner, that is).

This sucks for Australians. Our options are import the "full" game but miss out of dlc or buy an censored version.

Did anyone have a gun and/or Daedric axe to their head when the Horse Armor DLC came out? No? Then why the whining? I've quite gladly shelled out MS Live Fun-Money for every last piece of Oblivion DLC and considering the years of play I've gotten from it I have no regrets.
Then again, I'd also pay money for clothing/weaponry DLC for GTAIV were it to ever eventuate, so who am I to judge.
If I like Fallout 3 half as much as I do Oblivion, they can do no wrong. Not even mutated horse Armor.
Mind you, were they to release a fucking DLC horse locater, maybe I'd stand a snowball's chance of finding Shadowmere.
It's been 15 months, I'm starting to fret.

I own both and I'll once again be feeding my wallet to my 360. Not just for the DLC, but also for the controller. I just prefer it for shooters than Sony's. Sony can have Street Fighter IV. =]

can't get no better than a PS360 owner, like me. Mirror's Edge dlc AND Fallout 3 dlc. yep! though honestly, i probably won't be getting either game's dlc, unless it's free. between the two, i see ME's dlc being free before Fallout 3's.

Hey speaking of the dog, can he die? I can't remember if molyneaux said your dog will or won't be able to die in Fable II, and I haven't heard anything on whether the Fallout dog can die. If my dog does end up being mortal, I'm pretty sure I'm going to spend as much time defending him from danger as I will completing quests. No canine friend of mine is going to be attacked by mutated crabs from Washington DC, you can take that promise to the bank!

Considering how Oblivion had something like 1800 mods available for it released in the first week after it's launch, and how there's now something like 12,000 in total for the game, I think both the 360 and PS3 customers that buy this game for their consoles are going to be missing out on a hell of a lot.

@DONAR: He might have left the game through a glitch. That happened to me with a NPC I need to find to do a theives guild quest after he chased me for commiting a crime. I got away from him and later returned to where he was supposed to be and he never showed up. I eventually had to look up cheats for the game and get the code to enter in to have his character spawn in front of me, which fixed the whole thing.

I guess Bethesda won't be getting my money.
Oblivion on PC was a bug-ridden piece of crap that crashed every 2-5 minutes. I ended up playing the PS3 version (which was much better). In the end, I thought the game just dragged on way too long (I still haven't finished it).
I was considering importing the PS3 version of this (stupid Australian classification system), but not any more.

I remember watching the E3 video of Todd showing off Fallout3, and when he got asked if there were vehicles you could drive, his reaction was a quick smirk and then saying that they 'thought about it', but in fact there isn't and you can't.
I wouldn't be surprised to see various 'garages'/'fuel stops' turn up in future DLCs from Bethesda...
