Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars Due Before Feb. 1

Our nation's youth will be corrupted on the go, Grand Theft Auto-style, as early as November of this year and as late as January of 2009, according to today's Take-Two Interactive investor call. CEO Ben Feder pegged Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for the Nintendo DS as a fiscal Q1 '09 release, putting it in the same quarter as GTA IV's Japanese launch date.
Feder wouldn't confirm that the title would hit before the holidays, despite requests from callers to clarify.
If rumours are right, Chinatown Wars will hit in the same three month window — November 1 to January 31 — as GTA IV's Xbox 360 exclusive downloadable episodes. If that GTA three-way does happen, it could make for a very happy group of shareholders. And a lot of virtual bystander corpses.

Wait wasn't GTA Chinatown announced for the Wii as well? DS? Wow we're basically talking N64 2.0. I wonder how Rockstar will pull it off.

Will it look as good as GTAIV. Given the limited capabilities of the Wii? I mean or will it looked like a polished version of GTA on PS2?

I'm a little saddened to say that I haven't even removed my DS out of its case for almost three months now. I really like it too, but for some reason I haven't been compelled to play it. Seeing a game like this come out will definitely put me back onto using it, but I really want to see some screens.

They have been working on it for a while but they have kept it very quiet. The game won't be rushed if they were patient with gta4 there is no reason to believe they would do any less with this game. They paid off all debts and are sitting on 350 million cash there is no rush in this company right now.

I listened in on the conference call and I just have to say I love this company. They are extremely dedicated to good products. I was skeptical when Strauss Zelnick took over in a bid to raise the value and sell off the company. But I have to say as a gamer and an investor he has raised the value by improving the quality of their games and that makes me a fan. If the deal with Electronic arts falls apart I would highly recommend this company as a buy on the inevitable dip. One of the analysts commented that with this quarters numbers they are valued at about 1/3 of what their competitors are valued right now. They have a PE of 11. Strauss alluded to the fact that GTA tipped the numbers a little out of balance but he also said that the company is striving through multiple avenues to get their profitability to be more continuous. And they have the ips to back it up. Bioshock, GTA, The sports, carnival games- go ahead and laugh they sold 2,000,000 copies, and with borderlands coming up the good times should continue to roll. By the way 10 million copies of gta have walked out the door and the advertising campaign is getting ready to pick up over christmas to capture all the new console sales.
