Guy Rigs Street Fighter 4 Arcade System To His TV
Posted by Adam Barenblat at 11:00 AM on September 23, 2008
Every once in a while you run across someone that is unbelievably fortunate, and Gilleybaba, you are one lucky SOB. It seems the YouTube poster rigged up a what Todd Tuckey would call a Taito Type X2 system to his HDTV. What does that mean? Oh, nothing, just that he can play the full arcade version of Street Fighter 4 and Battle Fantasia while chomping down on a bag of Dorritos if he wanted to.
Interestingly enough, in the first video he plays the game with what looks like a consumer grade Soul Calibre II arcade stick. Hats off you to you Gillybaba, the internet envies you. Second video after the jump.
Thanks, Bruno!

22"??? get it on a Big Ass 50" HDTV, if he can afford two arcade boards he can afford the big ass TV!!
Also whats with the wires every where?, if you are going to do something do it proper, use that old PC case and get it sprayed up in Street Fighter 4 Decals sort a proper cable from the Stick to the Board, or at least gut a Snes and put it in there! can you imagine that under your TV in Snes casing..

Bah, wouldn't even be worth it, if he was missing out on all of that screen real estate.
And I'll agree with him, it does sound like a jet engine. And I don't want to hear a jet engine that close. Just ask Travis Barker. :(

@zenius:
For what? Purchasing a copy of the arcade board? Sure, most of those things say not for sale outside territory X, but you don't see Capcom going after the few arcades left in the US here. People buy/sell/trade boards of all types that aren't meant for a specified region.

Why not just keep the arcade version intact instead of trying to "consolize" it? well, people must have their reasons...
I have always dreaming of having a full-blown arcade cabinet (for whatever game was the rage at the time) in my house.

@firelogic: As much as I'd like to play the game in my home right now, I wouldn't want to screw with my home theater setup. Like I said, I'd like a version with the bugs worked out and extra characters.
Plus, there's a ton of games on my pile of shame to get through, and I don't need another one.
But yeah, it does sound like hating. I'm not hating, btw, just saying I'm patient and can wait until 2009.

This is exactly what the Replay arcade in Brisbane did for SF4.
I kid you not, their setup is 2 arcade boards transplanted into a Virtual Tennis system, connected to Samsung HDTVs. With a cardboard box on top covered in SF4 posters.
A bit of a bodge job, but I don't think anyone takes points away for presentation.

When someone does something like this, why do all the girlfriend/women comments have to be dragged out of the closet again?
So the guy likes his games and spent a lot of money to play them.
So what? I hope he's having fun with it. Maybe he has a girlfriend or wife, maybe not, who really cares? If you think that's the be all and end all of existence, you have some growing up to do.
Starts coming off as jealousy, to be quite honest.

He must have shelled out a pretty penny for the SFIV board. one of the guys who works at the china town arcade told me that Capcom only sells them in sets of two or 4 and it runs something like $1200 or $4000 or something like that to buy ém. This guy should have just waited. Honestly, its awesome to play when nobody else can but he can't go full screen and in like Dec or something he can buy it on 360 or PS3 for 60 beans. Patience young grasshopper.
