To be completely honest, the cost for 5 hours on G4 would be utterly RIDICULOUS. Of all the crazy things on that rumor, that was probably the CRAZIEST.

That being said, this is still CLEARLY a rumor, but its not necessarily written off yet. Not by a long shot. Too many other coincidences for that to be the case.

Whats this joke with Microsoft and free? During the first year of of the 360 Microsoft would hand out free wireless controllers, games, and cameras for having a faulty console. They would even go as far as giving you the option between 4 different titles.

It's hard to know, I still think it could be true. Usually "we have no comment to make at this time" means that something is going to happen as that's what they said before peter Moore left and just before Bungie split when those stories leaked.

But this is the standard we do no comment on bla bla bla so it's hard to know. I hope it's true :) The date that was talked about (sept 25) is one year after Halo 3 was launched so we know Bungie will have cool stuff for us anyway. It would be a very smart move on Microsofts part.

I'm very sceptical about this. As Mr_Raccoon says, it certainly wouldn't be on G4, and the amount of freebies apparently being thrown around make me call bullshit on this one. Plus, I'm thinking if the dashboard update was being launched in just a weeks a more credible source would have come to light.

@Murderdolls: That was because they effed up, not out of the kindness of there heart or as part as some marketing thing, they had bad pr and they wanted ease it off some. The jokes probably come from they fact that they charge you for was the others give you for free, two examples being wireless ability and on line multi player.

I got Contra and Fuzion Frenzy 2 for free when they did that Old Spice gamerscore challenge thing a while ago.

I also got a ton of MS points for free when my first 360 died. I called them and complained that no one else in the house could play my arcade games wihtout me logging in and they refunded about $100 in MS points. That I promptly used to buy Gears of War map packs and other arcade games.

Come to think of it, I've gotten a lot of free stuff from Microsoft..

I'm not saying this rumor about the 6 free Xbox Originals games being free is true, but there have been a few freebies as mentioned above. As someone pointed out yesterday, there may be some credibility to the free games b/c it could help sell some of the larger hard drives and get people more comfortable w/digital distribution.

They aren't waiting until there is no convention. If the Sept. 25th is true, it would be just before a gaming trade show, but more importantly October kicks off the Holiday Selling Season (at least in the US).
