Pro Evo 2009 Kicks Off In Europe In October
Posted by Luke Plunkett at 2:40 PM on September 6, 2008
Time to go trade in that copy of Pro Evo 2008, kids, because the 2009 edition's been dated for release. Continental Europe, you get it first, on October 15. Britain, you get it October 17, because traffic on the channel tunnel is just a nightmare these days. Japan, you get it sometime in November, and America...no idea. Sorry. Import it from Europe if you're that keen.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 gets release date [VG247]

PES08 was region free for the PS3, so I bet PES09 is as well. I ordered mine from Europe nearly 6 months before it came out in America.

@duckmouth:
I see where your going with this.
Brazil have 5 World Cups, Argentina have 2.
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut.
How many times have Argentina won the Copa America?
14.
How many times have Brazil?
8.
without this getting a bit agressive;
Here's a light hearted time where Brazil were better than Argentina.
Anderson vs Tevez at a few games of Snap, Jenga, and connect 4.

@Alchemy_Comrade: It's oddly disturbing to hear that statement from an American when it's usually us Europeans saying it... =P
I have no idea why they're delaying this game 2 days for the UK (is it not already in English or something?) but I suppose 2 days is a lot better than several months.

read a few comments, thought i'd chime in... at this moment in time, i must say, argentina is by far the better team compared to brazil. Anyone who saw the olympic games can attest to the lackluster performance brazil showed.

This is the first year in ages I won't be buying PES. Evem though both a FIFA 09 and PES09 demo are up on Thursday, the absolute lack of progress from Konami in improving a dated game is shocking, whereas FIFA has been improving year by year.

Why would you want to trade in your old copy of Pro Evo for the same new copy?

@jwpunk:
I think you meant to say that the drug addled cheat Maradonna is not fit to lick the boots of Pele.
Seriously, "hand of god" I'd still like him to meet the "fist of weirdwolf" 20 odd years later,he took the beautiful game and crapped all over it on more than one occasion. No matter how skilled he was, like George Best he pissed it all away in an unforgivable manner.
That 70's Brazil team is without doubt the best team I've ever watched.

Now you can imagine how Europeans normally suffer by waiting for high anticipated games (but is that pro evo really?)...
Not that I wwant to be spiteful, pleading for worldwide same release date! ;)

@Lukehmuse: I'm with you. I'm going to be waiting on reviews for this, and if there are not any considerable improvements i'll be going to Fifa.

@aKed: But the Olympic team is not the national team. It's a youth team with a couple of older players thrown in the mix.

@Lukehmuse: I have read an indepth preview and according to what it said, this game should have quite a few improvements. Apparently the way you execute special moves is completely different. Also it has a whole new physics model. There are many other improvements as well. I am hoping it lives up to the preview.

Apparently there's a demo coming 11th September, same day as the FIFA 09 demo!
Let's see these promised improvements.

Olympic teams are a snoozer, soccer is weighed in at the World Cup.
I will be importing as usual, tyvm to the nation who considers MLS as a PIECE OF SHIT.

Some things never change, and one of them is my affection for the ISSS/WE/PES series and my preference of it over ANY thing EA Sports has released, regarding the king of sports.
I enjoyed the SNES and PC Versions of FIFA Soccer (94), then Capcom's soccer Shootout (hasn't aged as well) came along and set the stage for the revelation that was International Superstar Soccer for the SNES. Been a fan ever since.
Let's hope the PS3 version isn't broken this time, I consider Playstation the home of PES for more than one reason.
