Always wondered, when Gym's would incorporate some kind of Videogame into their activities. Why not WoW?
Since it is addictive to many, they would win lifetime Members!

@Gouki4u:
There were one of those Sonic games called Sonic R that in essence was a racing game with running characters.
Might be something for you?

If I had a treadmill I'd try this with a racing game.

Saw this on Gizmodo in August. Had they not used manual treadmills and been all hunched over, it probably wouldn't be as strenuous.

Seriously, i would LOVE one of these in my home.
I go to the gym like once a week, but it's so god damn boring. If i had something like this i would get some serious exercise quickly.

Lol is it bad that I'd actually want to try that? With how much time I've wasted in WoW I'd be all bones. :P

I'd skip on this to be honest. I don't get any excersize right now (Planning to start a gym membership soon though) but I wouldn't want it intruding on my WoW time. :P

Seriously this is such a good idea. You wouldn't really have to run just laps but you could just grind mobs and have to run or walk to the next mob. I think I could really lose some weight with this. I gotta find a way to set this up.

@Kuebel33: It's news because he dressed up, hooked up the treadmill to the computer, and lost 100 pounds. If you want some credit for doing it first, well, too bad.

I actually know a guy who lost a ton of weight by putting a treadmill in front of his WoW; it seems like a really good idea. If you're going to be there anyway, why not get in a bit better shape?
The only reason I don't do it is an overwhelming aversion to sweat(at least while I'm gaming).

Dude this isn't news. I have been doing treadmills and cycling machines for like 7 or 8 years while playing various games (Metroid Prime, Prime 2, FFXI, Halo)
It always felt like I was actually "in the game" when I did that..

But this really isn't news; it's a viral commercial for an energy drink.

@Ska-Chan: power your monitor by pedal connected to a battery. When you want to play wow, you work out by biking, then play until the battery discharges and pedal as you play to keep it charged.
Someone has done that idea before, can't remember where I read that.

Great post.
The next evolution should be to couple an MMO with a recumbent bike or elliptical machine - slightly more comfortable and comparable/same exercise potential. Plus, no impact. I'd be nausous bouncing up and and down and trying to focus on the monitor.
Of course, I've never felt comfortable on a treadmill. I'm probably in the minority there.
Also, I loves me some pizza.
