I think I will just pick up the regular edition now. This really pisses me off. This was going to be the first collectors edition of a game I was going to buy. Also you know the in-game items will be DLC later.

Somehow this seems about as appealing as printing the image of a scanned Venasaur card off of one obscure Pokemon fansite or another and slapping it into the empty slot in my dusty old card binder (Venasaur was the only card I was missing from the first set, DUH). The point is, a washed-out picture cut from a sheet of 8 by 11 simply doesn't have the same effect as the real deal.

I wasn't planning on getting the collector's edition, but now that it's only 10$ more? Maybe...but then again, the making of DVD is probably just the Lionhead video diaries in on contiguous video. And paying for specific in game armor sets or weapons isn't ever a good thing, to me at least.

I agree with another commenter that said one of the big selling points of Collector Editions of games is not only the ingame stuff to swing your epeen around, but really (for me) it's the nice little FIGURES and physical swag you get. Granted you'll look at it once, play with it for about 10 minutes and put it on your shelf and forget about it, but that's what makes it fun. All that stuff piles up eventually and you can reflect back on those 10 minutes of joy.

Basically I'm saying.. I want my 10 minutes of joy before I play the game :[.

Wow, usually we have to wait until AFTER Molyneux's games are released to be disappointed that 1/2 the features aren't there.. I'm glad he's starting early by axing 1/2 the CE.

This is killing any kind of excitement I had for this game... first the online co-op is going to be patched in after launch, and now they scale back the CE mere weeks before the game comes out. I'm really starting to worry about what they had to cut in the game to get it to ship, since everything else about this game is a clusterfuck (I'm not even going into the Pub Games debacle..)

Well coming from somebody that wasn't planning to buy the Premium version I will say this, if I had been planning to get it, I would be no longer. Not that I am complaining or anything. I just personally don't see anything in there to justify a $10 increase in price.

I was really excited about getting this limited edition, I always get the special editions, because I love how they expand the game away from just the TV screen, it's the little things like the art book and figure that get you immersed in the game's universe.

I can't believe it'll just be a crappy DVD which I'll never watch and some awful .pdf download...

Of course the removal of the extra contents doesn't change the game, but it is no longer what was promised. I've pre-ordered the C.E. and paid it's high premium specifically because I wanted the extra stuff. Now? I don't know...

Why bother with the limited edition then at all.Most of the things that made it worth picking up are gone and i could care less about the extra downloads especially when there's a 99% chance they'll GIVE them to the regular edition buyers at some point a few months down the line and for FREE!Count me as changing my preorder to the regular edition of the game.

The standard editions of Infocom text adventures came with loads of goodies: sunglasses, fake passports, documents from the agencies you worked for in the game etc.
Even on the C64, a spy game I once bought came in a faux leather envelope, sealed with string - the whole manual was printed like a real spy dossier.
Then there were on the Amiga collectors editions of roleplaying games, manuals printed on high-glossy paper with loads of extra illustrations, pins, stickers, T-Shirts, patches - the whole lot.
A game I bought on cassette for the PLUS4 had the whole story narrated on the second side of the cassette as an audio track!

And then there are the "real" collectors editions:
The european version of Vampires: The Masquerade (coffin shaped box, over 40cm long), the Diablo2 Collectors Edition (Soundtrack, Making-of DVD, Artbook, complete D&D roleplaying game for starters!) and so on and so forth.

Lord British insisted that the versions of Ultima shipped with a cloth map (still got mine from Ultima9, as well as the Tarot cards).

Ten to fifteen years ago, many standard editions shipped with MORE stuff than the collectors editions do now. Partly due to those shitty DVD amaray cases everything is sold in, partly because companies are becoming lazy and cheap.
A few years ago, the actual media was the most expensive thing inside the case (especially with the last floppy-based games), nowadays it´s the price sticker on the box.

I hadn't heard about the axing of some stuff from the CE, but none of it matters to me. I'm getting the CE for the in-game bonuses, not the stupid cards or figure that I'm likely to lose or throwaway within two weeks. In fact, I'm kind of pleased with the announcement.

Without the tin and the figure I saw no reason for me to get the LE so I switched my pre-order to the normal version last night. If I wasn't moving to S.Korea in the middle of November I might have kept the LE for the extra in game stuff, but I won't have time to enjoy it since I'm not taking my 360. Lionhead is not publishing Fable 2, Microsoft is. The publisher handles the packaging. That means Microsoft handled the packaging. That means Microsoft is the one that cut the content, not Lionhead and not Peter Molyneux. Lionhead is being nice and trying to give those that ordered the CE as much perks as they can. Lionhead didn't have to do that, but they're trying to be nice to so many disappointed fans.

Anyways, you can go back to the "blame Molyneux for everything" posts again.
