why is it that every other game in this genre gets picked on about there colors. but no one says anything about gears. many times i have to treat screens of this game like a "magic eye" pic just to find the main character. i remember that there was a huge debate on here about how brown socom was. and when i compare the two, socom has a lot more color. and most of the people on here raving about how great it looks are the same people that chime in on all these other games talking about " looks brown " and other various comments on color. fine if the game plays good. but as far as looks go- it looks like GEARS1 with new moves. thats all.

@Abno: That's my point. The game stutters, and the framrate is high. It's not the framerate, it's the streaming off the HDD....well at least that's my best guess. Find out for yourself by checking out the official forum.

@Tychonius: They removed that. It's just like Xbox live but free? I don't have an Xbox, but when I first signed into Gears and Viva Pinata I had to either create, or sign in an existing Xbox live account.

Both games included one month free Windows Live, but I really never have done much with it, except help fellow PC Viva Pinata players with hardware and software issues.

@Majpain007: My manager got to use it once while at the gamestop conference, he said you move about as slow as when you're carrying the turret or missile pod in halo 3. It's in the multiplayer as well. My manager fired it once and down himself on accident after planting it into the ground and firing it straight up. Apparently you can fire it while walking or in the stationary position.

Looks like a little bit of improvement, which is good. I found the game was riddled with bugs and glitches and just frustrating mechanics, mainly the cover system and the behavior of the guns. Other than that, it was pretty good.

Amping up the action and fixing the at-times frustrating gameplay elements seems like it should make for a better Gears experience. Although the sudden need to tack on a story makes me worry a bit but other than that I'd like to take this one for a spin!

@Tychonius: I do my main gaming on my PC as well. Unfortunately I don't have/want a 360 so I can't play the second GoW, at least right away, even though Epic denies this is coming to the PC. I liked the first OK on the PC, but then the game became so choppy and unplayable, and that was like 80-90+FPS.

You know, I resent that comment. Not every Gears of War fan reacts the same. I for one think 2 will build upon a decent foundation laid by Gears 1. I think the core gameplay has been refined, especially after my hands on time with MP at PAX. I can't wait to see where the story goes, because while the first one wasn't Bioshock, it still was entertaining.

In fact, I guess if you wanted to think of Gears 2 in relation to Gears 1, I'd say it's Gears 1 turned up to 11.

Why the HELL can't they get lip syncing right. Other games seem to. R2 is one example. Everytime I watch a G2 cut scene, I feel like I'm watching a foreign film. It just pulls you out of the immersiveness of it all.

Other than that, the game looks very very sweet indeed! I wonder if I'll ever get round to starting and finishing the first one. It's been sitting here on my shelf for months now.

Btw, how can you do a clean forward roll, with all that weaponary on you back? Wouldn't you either crush it or end up with some serious back pain?

I adored Gears1, particularly multplayer and I've repeatedly tried to reign in my anticipation for this because I'm concerned about it being a disappointment but god damn it's just looks like so much fun. Just the game I'll need to balance out all the time i am/will be spending with LittleBigPlanet.

@homernoy: Actually, that's not a Xbox Live account. It's just a profile, so when you go play again, you can access all your saves. You could always sign in as a guest though, even for playing on Xbox Live (except for ranked matches)

And to everyone saying "ugh, big steroid heads" and "dumb dialogue", this is Gears of War 2, the sequel to Gears of War, what were you really expecting? There's no need to bring all that shit up AGAIN. Its all been said the first time around. To this day, Gears 1 is still one of the best looking games on the system on an HDTV, and the Gears 2 engine has a number of improvements. The one that is the most apparent to me is the lighting system. Characters and textures are better lit now -- not necessarily more colorful -- but better lit.

Not be cynical, but this really just looks like Gears with better graphics...which is totally fine, because Gears was a great game. Although I do believe Gears and Resistance were immortalized because they were the first "next-gen" titles for their respective next-gen systems. But regardless, Gears 2 looks really good, but I must admit, games like Fallout 3 and Order of Ecclesia excite me much more.
