Was a big fan of playing the original on persistant servers, but NwN2 put me off for some reason. It's so generic, bland and off-putting to me. Cuz I'm Crayzeeeeh!

I purchased NWN2 for Mac, and I'm still working on it. Such a good game, as I see it. Any word if this is coming for Mac as well?

the Mask of the Betrayer expansion killed it for me. The spirit guage really put me off, when I mismanaged it, and could not recover the character. Not a game glitch, but a design decision on the game expansion.
I haven't been able to get back into it.

I keep trying to get into NWN2 and it's just not good. It's OK. I'm playing the last expansion a bit, way better than the original game.
Crazy idea: We really need a Spore-ish "procedural" DM RPG game system so we can prototype and run D&D games online with friends effortlessly.

NWN2 was a good game with a great expansion in Mask of the Betrayer. Yeah the spirit eater mechanic in the expansion was somewhat poorly implimented, but the storyline was really neat.
This expansion looks good, but I'm biased because I like the area a good chunk of it takes place in (Chult, if people are familiar with the Forgotten Realms).
That all being said, I'm waiting on games based on the 4th Edition rule set as well.

NWN2 is a pale shadow of the first game.

I have to be honest, I straight up do not like this game. It's slow, boring, and simply not fun. So yeah won't be getting this.

@adocious:
A lot of us disagree.
Unlike the first game, it's actually a party-based CRPG. So it seems a lot less "lonely" than the first game (and a lot more like the Baldur's Gate games). Direct control of the members of your party really makes it far more enjoyable for me.
The only downside I had with NWN2 was that its story took a while to get started, then seemed to stop just as it was getting good. It needed another 2-3 hours to flesh out the plot and allow the character romances to better develop.
Mask of the Betrayer is better in a way. The story seems more complete.

Really enjoyed NWN2. I found it started off pretty slow, but as the story developed it got more and more interesting. Also, they kept throwing new important NPCs into the mix throughout, which I thought was cool.

Loved NWN2, haven't got round to mask of the betrayer yet. This one looks a little bit dodgy though, the uninspiring jungle / aztec type setting doesn't help.

NWN2...
Overabundant particle effects.
A dagger that does 1 bonus fire damage causes an explosion the size of an Rocket Propelled Grenade.
The spell effects and animations are awkward... the UI is clunky garbage... after playing Mass Effect and Bioware's older titles, NWN2 feels like the Bollywood offshoot that people make fun of on the internet.
The graphics engine is a resource hog that looks like custard and runs like Crysis. Multiplayer is littered with stability issues and bugs and the game had more SecuROM launch problems than Spore and Mass Effect combined.
And yet... I've been playing it since it came out... o_-

I'm less looking forward to the expansion itself so much as I'm looking forward to the new tools and mechanics the expansion will give to modders.
Mask of the Betrayer was fantastic and all, definently. But much more of my NWN2 time has been spent with the various excellent mods that keep being released than anything else. Anything that promotes and helps that community is a huge bonus in my books.

I dropped NWN when the added some DRM in a patch. That and they keep putting out this stuff that's just the same old thing. I mean if Barbie can ride a horse why can't my paladin? Also the game felt more restrictive than the first one.

It still needs more Elminster.
HD version of Baldur's Gate you say? Well yes please, here's my money right away!

@adocious: I never understand this. The single player NPCs are all way better in NWN2, as well as party control. NWN1 have better multiplayer probably and easier modding, but if you like single-player NWN2 is way better, and the expansion surpasses that more. NWN1 was made before post-Black Isle Bioware hit its stride with KotOR.

@Tenth: Funny, people said Mask to NWN2 is like mods to Oblivion.
