We've seen Last Remnant screens before. But not in English. Yes, yes, English! Look at all those words, words we all know. Take a look at the latest batch from Square Enix. Do it.

Both gamers and developers need to stop acting as if the entire RPG genre revolves around Final Fantasy. Oh I'm aware of what Square said...but honestly I just don't believe that this game will wind up materializing on the PlayStation 3 when all is said and done. I'd love to be proven wrong though...
@baberg: I'm in the same boat. I haven't even finished Bioshock or Dead Rising FFS ! With my 2nd playthrough of Mass Effect as well as Fable 2 , Fallout 3 & Midnight Club coming out later this month not to mention GOW 2 coming out the month after that I'm overwhelmed by games i'd love to play. Last Remnant looks pretty solid . Depending on the reviews I might have to buy this game after the dust settles.
@Superlocke: Really? I really enojyed XII. I especially liked the gambit system because final fantasy battles always get tedious towards the end of the game when there is less risk involved in fights, and it took care of them for me.
I think it looks good and some of my favourite games are turn based.
Also if anyone else noticed it's not just passive turn based you can block enemy attacks and I hope it'll be like Lost Odyssey in terms of interactive turns.
@Polite Society: FFXII is good in it's own right but losing control of your other characters is annoying. It's a game and not real life so I don't care if I can control a few people, that's a good thing if I can. It's when you lose control and they do random crap that might not even be helpful that it gets annoying. Turn based is just better cos you can play the game your way.
@Kia: I don't think it's bad at all other than the acting and the voice acting. The main gameplay atleast has a few different combo's and then there's the skills and having a large party and 2 or 3 parties running around is quite cool.
@PercyChuggs: I agree. I enjoy Final Fantasy as much as the next guy but I realise that "The next final fantasy" (whichever it may be at the time) has just as much chance of failing as any other RPG.
As for coming up with new ideas, it's probably because companies are scared of risking everything to try something too new. Sticking with a proven formula seems safe.

I think he's right, turn based is just better since you have a much larger selection of spells etc. usually (since you have time to scroll through them), you can control several characters rather than have your party either die or use up all your potions/ there mana when you don't want them to. Generally the level of control makes it more fun. It sucks just having people run around you who you feel aren't really much use.
